Another cool way to do it is to play as few conference games as possible (14, like the MWC did until this year). |

Code:

31 - Georgetown 72 - Seton Hall 80 - Marquette 100 - St. John's 105 - Villanova 124 - Providence 201 - DePaul Code:
9 - Louisville 19 - Syracuse 22 - Connecticut 24 - Cincinnati 66 - Notre Dame 71 - Pittsburgh 97 - Rutgers 101 - South Florida (1) There are 347 Division I teams in the 2012-13 season. (2) Any team that has an RPI Ranking which is better than the arithmetic mean of the RPI Rankings for all of the Atlantic 10’s teams is helping the Atlantic 10’s Conference RPI Ranking (presently 7th). (3) Any team that has an RPI Ranking which is worse than the arithmetic mean of the RPI Rankings for all of the Atlantic 10’s teams is hurting the Atlantic 10’s Conference RPI Ranking. (4) Historically, the arithmetic mean of the RPI Rankings of the Atlantic 10’s teams is always/usually in the range of RPI # 100 - 150. (5) Therefore, I have arbitrarily selected the following color coding for the A10 teams' RPI Rankings: RPI # 1 - 99 | RPI # 100 - 150 | RPI # 151 - 347(6) Roughly speaking, a team in green is helping the Atlantic 10’s Conference RPI Ranking, a team in red is hurting the Atlantic 10’s Conference RPI Ranking, and a team in yellow is doing neither, although it can reasonably be assumed that a team toward the high end of the yellow range is actually hurting the Atlantic 10’s Conference RPI Ranking. (7) I have applied the same color coding for the Big East teams, although the average RPI Ranking of Big East teams is historically better than the average RPI Ranking of Atlantic 10 teams. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If anyone has the time and inclination to calculate the arithmetic means of the RPI Rankings of the Atlantic 10’s teams for the past ten seasons and post it on this thread, here is all of the raw data you need: Quote:

Re: 12/6/2012 RPI Update
Bonnies' rpi dropped 40 spots yesterday. Been dropping over the last few games, including 30 and 40 point wins over Cleveland State and The Citadel.

Re: 12/6/2012 RPI Update
The Cost of Bad Losses: The Flyers could have and should have won these three games: Quote:
Selected RPI Rankings - Updated January 1, 2013 RPI # 18 - Wichita State (12-1) - SOS Ranking # 92The data above suggests that if Dayton had won those three games, the Flyers' RPI Ranking would now be in the range of # 20 to # 30.

Re: 12/6/2012 RPI Update
.... but you didn't win those games and your RPI IS NOT in that range.... so what is your point?

Re: 12/6/2012 RPI Update
We could all play the same should-a, could-a, would-a. Xavier is 11 points away from being 11-1. However, just like Dayton they lost some close games. Stuff happens.

Re: 12/6/2012 RPI Update
You'll have to worry about Duquesne dropping like a rock at this point. Games at St. Bonaventure and at home against GW and Xavier are looking less and less winnable right now.
