Re: The potentially premature goodbye thread
I have no idea who the heck is going anywhere.
If Xavier and Butler do go to the breakaway BE 7 group, and if Dayton and VCU are intitially not going, the VCU guys better get ready for some broader bandwith in their threads.

Re: The potentially premature goodbye thread
Again, let that play out over the next decade or so. We'll see how PC, SHU, and DePaul fare when the heavyweights aren't coming to town anymore. Those large rental fees for downtown arenas will start to sting quite a bit. Remember, these schools' on-campus facilities would be the worst in the Atlantic 10--Fordham included. No more football-infused cash, no more Syracuse or UConn or Louisville coming to town, and no more casual fan attendance. I'm not so sure some of these schools won't struggle mightily (not that they already aren't).

Wow, can't believe all the changes among the eastern conferences. The A10 was such a good conference. Now, who knows whats going to happen.

I'd like to see VCU come along, but you're right, Muddy would vent his years of frustration out on anybody left that's had any success.

Re: The potentially premature goodbye thread
I am grateful to the A10 accepting SLU into their league, a very good league far superior to the MVC for SLU. But I am praying SLU gets an invite to the new Big East or whatever the name becomes.
SLU has history with Marquette and DePaul. With Xavier, Butler, perhaps Dayton, etc. you now have a very nice West Division for the new Big East. I am assuming a 12 team league. Much better for SLU's schedule and travel. The A10 is a very tough travel league for a team like SLU. 16 game conference schedule with two games each in your Division and 1 against the East Division. And the TV money and exposure ought to be pretty good considering the cities and well known names of most of the teams. PLEASE, let it happen! |

Re: The potentially premature goodbye thread
It's Dayton Paranoia. Which is slightly different than Billiken Paranoia or any other kind.

Re: The potentially premature goodbye thread
I should probably stop looking at UD Pride. Their paranoiac frenzy has probably started seeping into my brain. But I can't quit because there are so many clearly unstable people posting there who have created tremendous fantasy worlds. I think Marquette promised us a game at UD Arena a long time ago that they refuse to fulfill. On the other hand, I might have just conjured that in a fever dream.

Re: The potentially premature goodbye thread
I think Marquette avoided us for a period, I think in the '90s. But, we have played quite a few times in a 2000s - lots of great games. Brian Wardle, or whatever that dude's name was, was great for them. We had a Yuanta Holland buzzer beater, the Dwyane Wade overtime game at UD arena, and the Chris Wright-Maurice Acker game. They had at least one game winning shot or late shot by Wardle to beat us. And DWade's first year they trounced us in Milwaukee.
