Re: 12/14 A-10 Game
We got whipped tonight, hopefully our team responds in a big way the rest of the season, but Miami came out of the gate and took it to us. Kadji for some reason tends to light us up. If he could consistently play like that, he'd be a solid NBA player. Miami looks to be a top 3-4 ACC team, so the loss isn't that bad, but I thought we'd put up a better fight.
Still, 9-1 this far into the season is still nothing to be ashamed of. |

Now that the game's over, we can go back to "Guess which conference your school will be in next year".
Tough loss, but still a nice start for Charlotte.

Re: 12/14 A-10 Game
Blah - I wish I hadnt been expecting this all week, but I have. Still no fan of those charge calls, but we got manhandled and exposed for our lack of shooters.
This Miami team can be beat, but not by a team that tries to play them straight up and pound it inside. I am trying to come up with 3 teams in the country that matchup with them like that... struggling to find any. Here's hoping they dominate like their talent warrants and make this look a little better. Ad here's hoping we right the ship this weekend. |

Re: 12/14 A-10 Game
That was brutal, but I think it illustrates that Charlotte has a pretty clear ceiling for this year. More athletic and teams with sound defense will force charlotte to hit jumpers no matter how hard they try not to, and it will get ugly.
The charlotte D wasn't that bad. Had trouble with the screens, but they have huge post players and the refs were letting them set the moving screens out top and Miami was hitting 3's with a hand in their face (or their 6'10" post player Kadjii was hitting them). That said, it's pretty clear that Miami just had players at almost every position that were better defenders but really a level above on offense. Not sure where this leaves Charlotte for A10 play. Clearly not at the top, but how far down? Middle or lower of the league? Will be interesting to see. |

Re: 12/14 A-10 Game
I think this at least gave us a realistic look at what to expect from Charlotte this year. After that powder puff schedule they have played so far, last night's game showed us they are pretenders. I hope I'm wrong, but if you are a top 5 team in this league, you don't get best by 30+ points to a middle of the road ACC team

I do think Miami is a tournament team this year and will finish top 4 in the ACC. |

Re: 12/14 A-10 Game
Miami appears to be a really good team if they play like that most nights. But losing by 30+ does raise some questions. I think the benches got cleared before the end of the game, so it may be a little misleading. But Miami was on cruise control after their spurt midway through the 2nd half, and I don't think the top teams in the A10 are letting that happen most nights (except see St. Joe's at Creighton).
It depends on what you mean by "pretenders". If you mean will Charlotte finish top 5, I think that's unlikely. But most people picked Charlotte somewhere between 10 and 14 in the league. I think Charlotte is probably better than that, especially given how soft some of the other teams are looking that were expected to be better. We'll see, the Niners' OOC sched won't reveal much more, so we'll have to wait until conference play, and especially the February stretch, to get a better read on Charlotte. |

Re: 12/14 A-10 Game
Pretenders? haha.
College basketball is a game of matchups. That matchup favored Miami in every aspect of the game. And oh, yeah, Miami is really good, especially at home. Watch what they do there to ACC teams. They're going to destroy UNC. Duke may beat them by negating all that size with the 3 ball. |

Re: 12/14 A-10 Game
Talk about a funny coincidence to have Miami blow out #1 Duke on the same night that Charlotte beats the team of the poster who was knocking Charlotte for getting beat badly by that same Miami tetam.
