Re: CONTEST: Predict the New 'BE12' Conference Teams

I'm told the Chinese market, which is clearly Flyer territory, is only interested in the cumulative point total of teams and shots that almost went it as opposed to actual results of actual games. Further, the Chinese market evaluates programs based in the success their recruits have in high school with no regard for success achieved at the collegiate level. Lastly, my research (charts and graphs to follow) indicates the Chinese market more highly values the NIT and perceives that to be he premier tournament in America. Therefore it is a no brainer for the BE7 and Xavier/Butler to invite UD to the new conference. Can you imagine the Chinese ratings come March??? Although UD hasn't even had much (no) success in that tournament the last couple years.

I have Muddled on block. What did he do? Did he actually state that UD has some kind of "in" with China? That can't be true. Nobody in their right mind would make that jump.

University of Dayton China Institute (University of Dayton)

UD Opens Institute in China (Dayton Daily News - July 10, 2012)
The University of Dayton is expanding its reach to China with an August 8th opening of a new institute in “one of the fastest growing and most competitive” development zones in the world, officials said.
UD’s China Institute in the Suzhou Industrial Park — where a third of the world’s Fortune 500 companies have operations — will allow students and staff to collaborate with businesses on research and developing new technologies.
The university is calling the China Institute UDCI.
UDCI will likely become a recruiting tool for the university for both students in Dayton and students from China.
The grand opening will include the world-renowned Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Ohio’s former Governor Bob Taft, the University of Dayton’s Horn Quartet and a solo percussionist.
Curran, Suzhou Industrial Park officials, representatives from international companies, educators from Chinese universities and two Catholic bishops from the region will also participate.
It's too good for you not to see, dash.

Get over yourself, xudash.

The post was in jest. There is no market in China for Dayton Flyers basketball, as almost everyone except yourself was smart enough to realize when they first read the post.

More Turbulence in Big East (A Jersey Guy - Tuesday, January 1, 2013)

The Catholic 7 school are meeting at the end of the week.

Anything from announcing an official date when they are leaving the Big East, to naming a new commissioner to guide them through the process is possible.

The most likely option will be to negotiate a deal with the Big East which will allow the Catholic schools to leave after the 2013 college basketball season.

The 2012 college football season may be coming to an end in a few days but the silly and mind-boggling season of conference reconfiguration continues to move forward.

Catholic 7 basketball schools in talks with Fox about TV deal

Quote:
The Basketball Seven are thought to be seeking a 12-year deal. The amount that the schools will receive is still under negotiation, but it's believed to be in the neighborhood of $3 million per school. The league is still expected to grow to 12 teams, although the possibility has been discussed that the league could start at 10 schools and grow into a 12-team league.

The heavy favorites to join the seven are Butler and Xavier. Creighton and Dayton are also considered strong candidates. Saint Louis has been discussed for the final spot. Sources say that talk about VCU for that spot has intensified the past few weeks, although it's not clear how strongly VCU is being considered.

VCU does not fit the template of private and religious schools. But there's been discussion that it could be foolish to ignore VCU's basketball success for the past decade, modern facilities and rabid fan base. VCU brings more recent basketball success than half of the Basketball Seven and is of the same caliber of Xavier and Bulter in the past decade.
Connecting the dots: The C7 presidents are meeting in Washington on Saturday. Given what we now understand, I'd guess the invitations of the initial 3 would be on the docket.

Re: CONTEST: Predict the New 'BE12' Conference Teams

The problem is, there is nothing official to invite them to.

Little doubt the C7 know the first 3 schools that will join them and vice versa, if not #4 & #5 (assuming they go to 12). If Fox1 is indeed the TV link, and considering that they're desperate for content, I'd say there's a 75% chance the conference kicks off next season and is at 12 teams the following season if not right off the bat.

I'm interested in the swerve towards VCU. Would they be in in place of SLU?
