Re: CONTEST: Predict the New 'BE12' Conference Teams
Not at all.
This thread gives those of you who doubt that Dayton will be invited to join the new BE7 conference the opportunity to post who you predict will be invited instead of Dayton. It doesn't take any intellect whatsoever to post that Dayton won't get invited. It takes at least a modicum of intellect to predict 5 teams and which side of the fence they will go. What are your predictions, BrownIndians85 ? Or are you one of those 'big hat, no cattle' posters ?

I should clarify... I mean the actual announcement from the BE schools in reality. Not in Muddy's reality.

Re: CONTEST: Predict the New 'BE12' Conference Teams
I've heard every permutation up to 14 or 16 so far. I have no idea what will happen, but as a SLU fan I don't know.

Re: CONTEST: Predict the New 'BE12' Conference Teams
It is pointless. The A10 "14" are bargaining from a strength standpoint when Dealing with the BE "7".
1. What can you offer us that we don't already have? 2. If we decide admit some of the BE 7, which teams do we exclude? 3. Do we invite all but Villanova and Georgetown since they have the snobbish BE attitude? 4. If we add all 7 plus Creighton we would became much stronger and additional rivalries would be strengthened not weakened... The Gigantic Atlantic 22!

Good points sir. This is going to drive all of us nuts until they make a formal announcement from the steps of whatever courthouse that these matters are decided.

Re: CONTEST: Predict the New 'BE12' Conference Teams
No one has to guess Xavier. They're a better program than half of the programs in this new basketball conference. They'd drop Seton Hall in a second to grab Xavier. I'm happy for the Muskies. Should be a pretty fun conference to watch.

Re: CONTEST: Predict the New 'BE12' Conference Teams
If theres one consensus, it appears we ALL want Villanova to go screw themselves. Im for ANY solution that leaves Nova on the outside looking in. Even if we do nothing and tell the whole BE7 to fly a kite. Just the thought of sharing league membership with those half-breeds makes me ill.
I say we all stay put and invite everyone but Nova into the A10. I have to believe this would be the easiest consensus in A10 Basketball Forum history.

Re: CONTEST: Predict the New 'BE12' Conference Teams
Richmond won't get invited to another conference because they scalped men's soccer and track. I think the A14 should kick them out, invite 7 new schools, play with 18 because 5 of them will join and Gtown and one other team like Nova will be snapped up elsewhere because they are too snobby to "downgrade" to the A10 level. You may certainly have a team like Fordham volunteer to go patriot league if they decide they can't compete with A10 standards. But there are no bottom feeders in our conference and no one worth kicking out involuntarily. That's the way the A10 designed itself. Even Fordham, which is a low quality opponent with old facilities and dwindling attendance, is still an academic strong suit, and a potential flagship program for the new mega conference since they are in NY.

Re: CONTEST: Predict the New 'BE12' Conference Teams
As Big East Evolves, Schools Weigh Options (Philly.com - December 15, 2012) With Villanova and other Big East schools that don't play Big East football planning a split from the league - with the announcement expected any day now - here's a little Q and A. What would Villanova's new league look like? The seven schools planning to split from the Big East - Villanova, Georgetown, Marquette, DePaul, Providence, St. Johns, and Seton Hall - are discussing different models. Expect Big East invitations to Xavier, Butler, and quite possibly Dayton, St. Louis, and Creighton. Richmond has come up in talks more than Virginia Commonwealth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Muddy's Observation: Xavier, Butler, Dayton, Saint Louis, and Creighton are all geographically in the West Division.
