Big W for the Bulldogs.
If this is their only year as an A-10 member, not a bad one to remember.

Re: Holy **** Butler !
Now I know Dayton fans were shocked and distraught to learn that after Xavier easily beat Butler by 15+ at Cintas and continued to sign 4 star recruits across the country, Xavier would not be entering a "multi-season rough patch" as Flyer75 so boldly predicted this off-season. So I understand a lot of these comments were just deflated Dayton fans trying to rationalize how in the world Xavier could beat Butler... But these comments are just classic. But can beat North Carolina, Marquette and the #1 team in the country, Indiana, but boy, the Bulldogs better prepare themselves for the big, bad A-10.
Some treats from Flyer75 immediately after Butler's loss to Xavier. "Some of us didn't buy into the horsecrap that Butler was a 3rd-5th place team in this league. Some of that was X themselves and how well they played but as Adam said, Butler is very near the bottom of this league in horses." "You can bring up past teams all you want but gone is Howard, Mack, and Nored. But Imo, I don't think this was so much a toughness issue as it a lack of horses statement. I don't think there is ONE player on BU right now that can break down a defense." Some treats from AdamtheFlyer after Xavier's defeat of Butler. "Of course it was just one game, but a sheer lack of athleticism is not subject to the sample size caveat. That's something that's going to hinder Butler all season long." "Coaching and a great home court will get Butler 6 or 7 A10 wins. I'm not sure I see more than 8-8 for them. I think Butler is a couple of years from being a true contender for a league title. They need athletes, and they need them to be experienced. It will take some time." "We'll see if it has bigger significance for their season. I suspect not. UNC probably runs them out of the gym today" "But ultimately, their lack of athleticism and lack of a play making PG will be keep them in the middle of the pack. "Offensively Butler has no one who can consistently create off a ball screen and the bigs will struggle to score 1-on-1 against A10 bigs" "Butler will struggle defensively in transition" "Late clock situations will be a struggle for Butler" "I don't think this is a roster built to win big in this league" "The immediate entry in the league hurt Butler a lot more than VCU. They just aren't A10 ready." Xavierhoops' observations: 1. Some programs are just winners and highly successful no matter what. Butler and Xavier are 2 of those programs.

Re: Holy **** Butler !
Xavierhoops, why make this thread another place to bang on Dayton? You guys get exactly what you give.
Way to go Butler, a heck of a win. Hopefully we'll play more than just this year.

When people repeatedly and strongly make bold predictions, and it turns out they are demonstrably wrong, I call them out on it. That was pretty simple, had nothing to do with UD... at all.

And UD fans are obsessed?? I can admit when I'm wrong...done it before here. Bit don't ever call me (as a UD fan), or Adam, obsessed....you just took the cake on that one.

Doesn't do much. Maybe try something else. Have a ton of respect for the NCAA runs made by Butler and VCU. (That may be why, jpschamck, I just spent 15 mins looking up a few weeks old posts regarding UD fans projecting how extremely difficult it will be for Butler to compete in the A-10).

Re: Holy **** Butler !
Flyer75- I've always maintained UD fans were obsessed with Xavier's program.
Not sure how recalling a few weeks old posts regarding Butler insinuate an obsession towards Dayton? I've just always kept these posts in the back of my head b/c I knew it would come back to bite both of you. I said after Xavier beat Butler, said it after Butler beat UNC, and saying it now after Butler beat Indiana... Butler isn't going to struggle in the A-10.

Re: Holy **** Butler !
There's a guy on your team named Rotnie.
Did the mom think of Rodney, and all these years she'd just been thinking it was "Rotnie!" and on top of that couldn't spell? That's the big story to me here.
