Re: Insensitivity of BE Catholic Schools
What drivel. No offense to good intent of his thought, but the major reason why we are losing this country is because we are shaping our society and conditioning ourselves to base our functioning on emotion.

Re: Insensitivity of BE Catholic Schools
I agree with the writer. The BE7 announcement could have and should have waited until Monday. Were they that hard up that they had to announce it on a Saturday? No, the world didn't stop because of the shooting and we all continued on with our lives, but things like this that everyone knew about and knew would grab headlines could have waited. It's simple human decency in my book and the BE7 President's exhibited some pretty selfish, boorish behavior.

Re: Insensitivity of BE Catholic Schools
I realize that every time I read the Bevel, SER, but I enjoy it just the same.
Obviously, the events in Newtown were horrific, but I believe some of you are more than picking nits, a jersey guy, first and foremost. |

I'll stick with the scum of the Bevel to avoid spontaneous combustion upon reading some of the ideas expressed on the Bannedwagon (hello, maplehurst).

Re: Insensitivity of BE Catholic Schools
This is ridiculous...On a micro scale, people cope with grief in different ways: some find solace in the routine of a normal day, while some choose to show their grief in a more demonstrative manner. Why can't we all be different. Similarly, on a macro level, why can't news be broken AND those very same people still be grieving. These are not mutually exclusive ideas. I don't think anyone thought: OMG the BE7 are splitting off...now my respect and grief for the victims and community in Connecticut is somehow diminished

Re: Insensitivity of BE Catholic Schools
There are probably funerals today. Making the announcement on a day when people in CT are holding funerals would have been better?
I don't really get the connection either way. |
