What drivel. No offense to good intent of his thought, but the major reason why we are losing this country is because we are shaping our society and conditioning ourselves to base our functioning on emotion.

Couldn't agree more.

You want to end school massacres? Stop paying attention to them. If you are capable, reach out to the victims. But do not let these crazy people dictate our lives.

Did you sit at home and mourn the loss all day? Doubt it. I'm sure you did things, as we all did, that carried on our normal day.

I agree with the writer. The BE7 announcement could have and should have waited until Monday. Were they that hard up that they had to announce it on a Saturday? No, the world didn't stop because of the shooting and we all continued on with our lives, but things like this that everyone knew about and knew would grab headlines could have waited. It's simple human decency in my book and the BE7 President's exhibited some pretty selfish, boorish behavior.

I'm with Jerseyguy on this one. I'm not saying the culture is lost, and I will also say my life did not go on as usual the last couple of days.

I realize that every time I read the Bevel, SER, but I enjoy it just the same.

Obviously, the events in Newtown were horrific, but I believe some of you are more than picking nits, a jersey guy, first and foremost.

Yeeeeeooooooowwwwwww!!!!!!

I'll stick with the scum of the Bevel to avoid spontaneous combustion upon reading some of the ideas expressed on the Bannedwagon (hello, maplehurst).

Re: Insensitivity of BE Catholic Schools

Maybe what's really sad here is that some of us actually think that 7 Catholic schools leaving the BE is in the grand scheme of things that important.

Re: Insensitivity of BE Catholic Schools

This is ridiculous...On a micro scale, people cope with grief in different ways: some find solace in the routine of a normal day, while some choose to show their grief in a more demonstrative manner. Why can't we all be different. Similarly, on a macro level, why can't news be broken AND those very same people still be grieving. These are not mutually exclusive ideas. I don't think anyone thought: OMG the BE7 are splitting off...now my respect and grief for the victims and community in Connecticut is somehow diminished

Completely agreed. This seems to me like the case of someone looking for something to be outraged about.

Re: Insensitivity of BE Catholic Schools

There are probably funerals today. Making the announcement on a day when people in CT are holding funerals would have been better?

I don't really get the connection either way.
