Well, yes, because it wasn't absurd. The thread starter asked people to give their assessment of their own teams and who might be deserving of all conference honors. Adam included only one more name than Flyer75 did to start the thread - Vee Sanford. He didn't say Vee would be on any team. He said he "has a chance" and "if he gets more assertive" he could have a chance at the end of the season. He also said that he did NOT think either of our freshman would make the rookie team.

I do not think that Vee will make any teams. I also don't agree with Adam that Vee is "better" than Devin Oliver. But his post hardly warranted "might as well give them the championship now."

So, he said that he think there are 2 Flyers on the team right now deserving of post season honors - not FIVE. A GW fan suggested they should have Armwood and 2 freshman getting honored. Should we give them the conference title?

Also, at this point in time (which is the way the first post was framed), UD is not a "middle of the pack" A10 team. They are 8-2. Their record is better than most of the league.

So yes, your post did hijack the thread. Mostly because you distorted the facts so much that KYFlyer needed to step in to correct you, and MudFlap had to jump in to defend you (which is when you know you are doing something wrong).

He suggested five players were deserving, but for various reasons three probably wouldn't make it. It is aburd to suggest that five players on any single team in a 15 team conference (that will get around six bids) are deserving of post season honors. The only way that would be true is if a team was going to totally dominate the conference. Hence, the give Dayton the title line.

Also, Dayton is 8-2 against a schedule ranked 277th. They will finish in the middle of the pack in this conference just like they almost always do.

Last, he is right about Dillard. The kid can play and may end up POY when all is said and done.

Re: Your Team's Awards so far....

Obviously league play will matter most but Jim ferry could win coach of the year. If duquesne finishes in the top 7 he deserves it. No doubt there.

Not likely even though he has been very good so far.

1) There is a difference between "might" and "are". Lack of basic reading and comprehension skills destroys many threads

2) I didn't see "a little absurd" in your post. I saw a sarcastic comment that added nothing to the discussion and was sure to provoke a response.

I second the nomination for a "Muddy"

I didn't even think about coach of the year. That's a harder one to gauge.

This is plainly false. He said that 2 were deserving. He said that one "has a chance if he gets more assertive." He said that, even though the freshman are talented, he doesn't think either will make the rookie team.

Does this mean all 5 are "deserving" under any rational interpretation?

Rick Majerus should win Coach of the Year posthumously. Look at this year's team as opposed to last year.

Re: Your Team's Awards so far....

I think Dillard is playing 1st/2nd team ball right now, and will be firmly on the first team by season's end. I think Oliver is likely a 3rd-teamer. I think Dyshawn Pierre has a shot at the rookie team if he has a good conference season. But his numbers aren't good enough right now.

Christon is going to run away with ROY, but Duquesne's freshman PG is really good too. Kellen Dunham will be in there too, probably. DPOY has to be between Isaiah Armwood and the guy from VCU, right? I also get confused which one is the good defensive big and which is the good defensive guard. I am really looking forward to that VCU guard and Dillard facing off in game 1 of the conference season.

Re: Your Team's Awards so far....

Derrick Colter would have been at LIU Brooklyn this year. He would have torn up the NEC.

AS for reasons for Ferry being in the running...

Improved rebounding through coaching: 330s nationally to 23rd in the nation. Averaging 41.2 rebounds a game.

Winning more than most people expected so far

Not sure this goes into it, but recruiting success in limited time

Getting the hold overs from Everhart to buy into the system

Team starts 3 freshmen

No way 9 other people are as inconsistent as Jeff Robinson. I refuse to believe it.

Where did you get that SOS ranking for UD? Just about every RPI sight has UD SOS at 120 or better.

And just for the record, I'm not knocking Ken Pom, but I'll put more stock in his formula when they start talking about it on Selection Sunday.
