Your Team's Awards so far....
To get away for a second about the BE7, I'd like to hear thoughts on who you think is deserving of being on any of the All Conference teams so far...this is probably a moot point as we're only a third of the way through but it's gets us back to current basketball discussion.
For UD I would say two players have earned a spot on one of the teams, and probably one freshman on the All Newcomer team. Devin Oliver - 10.9 ppg, 8.7 rpg. Devin has his flaws. He's an avg shooter at best and is prozac at the FT line but has a very high motor and is darn near avg a double double this year. Kevin Dillard - 15.1 ppg, 4.2 apg, 44% from the field, 85% from FT, and 41% from 3. I could pick 2 for newcomer but only going to take one. Curious to see what other UD fans think as both have been fantastic and both have disappeared at times. Jalen Robinson - 6.4 and 5.1 Pierre - 7.3 and 4.2 |

Re: Your Team's Awards so far....
Chaz might make third team all conference the way he's playing right now. That would be about it for conference awards. I have a hard time thinking of who even deserves team awards. Maybe Terrell Vinson, Sampson Carter, and Maxie Esho. That would be about it.

Re: Your Team's Awards so far....
By and large, Kevin Dillard has been playing like a conference POY candidate, and he can cement his candidacy with two good games this week. He's on pace to comfortably make the first team.
Devin Oliver is playing like a second-teamer right now, and has a real chance to make one of the teams. Second leading rebounder in the league. He's also got a good chance for all-defensive team and the most-improved player. Vee Sanford has a chance to make one of the teams. He's a better player than Oliver, but he's quieter on the floor. If he gets more assertive and takes over a couple of games, he will have a good chance to make a postseason team. I don't know if any of UD's freshmen can make the all-frosh team. Pierre and Robinson are among the best frosh in the league talent-wise, but perhaps won't make a big enough impact. Too many other good freshman will have bigger impacts on their team, and that resonates in the voting. The two biggest impact guys I have seen on other teams are Semaj Christon and Isaiah Armwood. Christon is going to win the Rookie/Freshman of the year award as long as he stays healthy. Armwood is playing like a first-teamer, and would be a legit POY candidate if his team were better.

Re: Your Team's Awards so far....
If J-mart continues to play like he has early I think he definitely has a shot at 2nd team or so. I think Dee Davis also has a (very outside) shot at an honorable mention type of spot. This is of course assuming he can go back to how he played at the beginning of the year of course, he has struggled the last few times out. He looked like that type of performer against FDU and Butler for sure. Definitely all-defensive team for him though.

Re: Your Team's Awards so far....
Conger is a likely all-league selection. I'll guess he winds up on the second team by the end of the year. Kloof absolutely belongs on the all-defensive team. He's the best defensive player at SBU since Tim Winn.

Re: Your Team's Awards so far....
Richmond:
Kendall Anthony would seem to have inside track on 6th Man at 13.9 PPG. Derrick Williams is at 14.8 ppg and 7.2 rpg and has been tearing it up lately. I'd say 3rd team with potential 2nd. Darien Brothers is also at 14.8 per game on shooting splits of 50/86/51 (FG/FT/3PFG) and I'd put him on the Honorable Mention with possible 3rd team if he plays at about 16ppg in conference. So much depends on how teams finish, since lower division teams rarely put more than 1 player on the all-conf. teams.

Re: Your Team's Awards so far....
I see Kloof as the best on the ball defender in the league!
P.S. I love X and would hate them to leave the conference, but nothing is in cement yet!

Re: Your Team's Awards so far....
Martin and Davis can both get all conference honors. I just don't think they are there yet. I do think Martin is close though. He has really stepped up when we have needed him to.
