Word around campus is that Fordham is considering a move to the Patriot League for all sports. At least that is what some believe, privately. Recent hire of an AD from Colgate, and Fordham's continued lack of success in the A10 has put the move in play.

Fordham Football, is the model that some believe should be replicated. Playing at a scholarship level, competing for and winning two championships in the last ten years, and association with institutions with strong academics, and football traditions.

Given Fordham's overall development plans, the Patriot league seems to be the best fit.

Let me clue you into something, most fans here will agree with you and at the same time most won't care enough to discuss it.

Very disappointed that the moderator of Fordham's board, who has a reputation of civility has chosen to make a personal attack. The fact is you don't know who I am, or who I speak to. Anyway, time will tell who was right, expect no further comment.

You are right, I don't know who you are and don't know who you talk to, but I do know who I talk to and based on that I believe the PL rumor is just that, a rumor and not something Fordham is considering.

It used to be non-scholarship, but they began offering scholarships in men's basketball in the late 90s, followed closely if not immediately by all sports except football. They'll begin offering scholarships in football this coming season, largely due to pressure from Fordham. I believe Fordham has been a football-only member of the Patriot League since they joined the A10 in all-sports, even though the A10 started a FCS football conference shortly after Fordham joined.

Correct, but Fordham at the time was committed to non-scholarship football, so they did not join the A10 football conference. Wise move b/c the level of commitment for the A10 (and later CAA) was not there, facilities were not up to par, etc. Sound familiar?

Will go back on my word for a moment, I think an objective read of your post would yield a different result. The tone was personal. That doesn't take away from the fact you do an excellent job with our board.

On the overall situation, I think our president and VP of student affairs who has basically run the AD for a good number of years both would be very happy going to the PL in all sports. I think our new AD likely would too. That said, many on our Board of Trustees would not and we have enough big donors (by Fordham standards) that don't want to move our sports to the PL. Unfortunately they are not big enough donors to get us the critical piece we need, a new arena and all that comes with that.

I don't think our president wants part of his legacy to be that he moved us out of the A10 b/c we could not get the job done under his watch. I think overall he does not care enough about sports to make a change one way or the other, so while he won't move us out, he also won't make a push for new facilities.

I think you missed the part where I said the president does not care about athletics and won't push for new athletic facilities. He has other priorities.

Plenty of building being done on both our campuses. Rumor has it that one of our recent dorms was built with a big donation that originally was supposed to go to athletics, but it got steered to this new dorm.
