Re: It's Time For Fordham To Go !

If Fordham's Administration has no intention of trying to field a 'top half' men's basketball team in the Atlantic 10, and there is no reason to believe they have such an intention, I would think that Fordham basketball fans would hope that the Rams move to a less-competitive conference, where Fordham could occasionally play in the Conference Tournament Championship Game for the automatic NCAA Tournament invitation.

It certainly appears that Fordham has already received their last NCAA Tournament "at large" invitation a long, long time ago.

The difference is that Muddy's posts are longer because he cuts and paste a lot. The similarities are that they both throw potshots at each other, each other’s team and fan bases. Muddy’s post would be okay for me if he would leave out the potshots. Same with Mudflap - Oh wait, then Mudflap wouldn't have anything to post.

Deflecting Muddy's, Tman's, Squid's, SB and your bullshit is tiresome. Maybe you should stop posting nonsense.

I like having Fordham in the league. If they could just get to consistently being in the top 150 of the RPI, I'd love having them in the league. Trips to NYC, exposure for potential recruits (I still remember Tu's dad being interviewed at a Fordham game), if you happened to be ranked when you go into play, likely a bit of coverage in the NY media (maybe just a blurb, but still).

To be honest, I'm not sure I want a Fordham that makes a top-of-the-league commitment. If they did, it would be a sleeping giant. Imagine a Xavier or Butler (or pick your own model program) type program plopped down in the middle of NYC with all the potential in the world. Talk about scary.

Funny you should bring that up. It's the exact same reason I suggested Dayton move to the Horizon or MAC. UD can't seem to get at-large invitations on any sort of regular basis (3 at-large bids in last 27 years). Clearly, their best chances of making NCAA tourney are to win the conference tournament in the MAC or Horizon.

You took this a step further than I did.

My previous post referrred to Fordham making a visible effort to occasionaly finish in 7th place in the Atlantic 10.

A start would be the construction of a new on-campus basketball arena, similar to the Ryan Center in Kingston, but with a seating capacity of 4500-5000 and a basketball team good enough to sell out half of the games.

That's not scary - that's an improvement.

Don't lose the run of yourself, xavierhoops.

Dayton 87, Xavier 72 (Yahoo! Box Score - January 21, 2012)

Xavier 86, Dayton 83, OT (Yahoo! Box Score - February 18, 2012)

Xavier 70, Dayton 69 (Yahoo! Box Score - March 9, 2012)

2011-12 Summary: UD won by 15 points at UD Arena, lost by 3 points in OT at Xavier, and lost by 1 point at Atlantic City.

Total points: Dayton out-scored Xavier by 11 points during the 2011-12 season.

If Dayton had made one more basket on March 9, 2012, it would have sent Xavier to the NIT.

If Dayton had made one more basket on March 9, 2012 and made one more basket in regulation on February 18, 2012, Dayton would have swept Xavier 3-0 this season.

It was that close.

BTW, Dayton's best rebounder and third-highest scorer Josh Benson suffered a season-ending injury knee injury on December 31, 2011, meaning that Benson missed all 16 Atlantic 10 regular-season games AND the Atlantic 10 Tournament in March 2012.

Had that season-ending injury to Benson NOT occured, it is quite possible, if not probable, that Dayton would have swept Xavier 3-0 this season.

Xavier just lost Tu Holloway, Mark Lyons, Kenny Frease, and Andre Walker, and is relying on a freshman point guard to lead the Musketeers back to the NCAA Tournament.

This is no time to lose the run of yourself.

Huh? Lol. I mention Dayton may want to use YOUR reasoning and move to a less competitive conference such as the Horizon or MAC if their goal is to reach the NCAA tournament, since they've only received 3 at-large invitations over the past 27 years (5 in the past 38 years).

And your rebuttal was brining up Xavier? And how Xavier beat Dayton 2/3 times again this year (in fact, 22 out of last 30 meetings) and went to the Sweet 16 again.

That only makes sense in your universe, Muddy.

And on February 11, 2012, if Fordham had scored one more basket, either in regulation or in OT, the Rams would have been 1-0 against Dayton this year. It was that close.

If you come in ranked, you'll get more than just a blurb. Our game against Harvard this past season got a lot of ink before and after. I guess it depends some on how we are doing at the time also. We were just coming off of a win agasint an ACC team, albeit a weak one in Ga. Tech., so that helped. We beat Harvard and despite a close loss to UMass following that, the game against Xavier got some decent press also and Xavier was not ranked coming in.

LOL. You know Fordham is all the way in NYC. Dayton must have had jet-lag. Oh, and don't you remember, Benson was out for the whole year!!!!!

Hmmm, so it's not important if you get the W, it's more important to score the most oints in aggregate?

If Dayton had made one more basket on March 9, 2012, it would have sent Xavier to the NIT.

If Dayton had made one more basket on March 9, 2012 and made one more basket in regulation on February 18, 2012, Dayton would have swept Xavier 3-0 this season.
And if you click your heels together three times Dorothy, you'll end up back in Kansas too.

It was that close. And yet still you lost twice, correct?

BTW, Dayton's best rebounder and third-highest scorer Josh Benson suffered a season-ending injury knee injury on December 31, 2011, meaning that Benson missed all 16 Atlantic 10 regular-season games AND the Atlantic 10 Tournament in March 2012.

Pure hopeful speculation, something you're quite adept at.

Xavier just lost Tu Holloway, Mark Lyons, Kenny Frease, and Andre Walker, and is relying on a freshman point guard to lead the Musketeers back to the NCAA Tournament.

This stuff is just to good to pass up. Do you other Dayton fans really buy the cr8p he's peddling?

Sad part is, I think some (certainly not all) of them on here do.

And the best part is I suggested that Dayton join the Horizon or MAC if their goal is to make the NCAA tournament on a consistent basis since they have only received 3 at-large bids in the past 27 years. And that's his response!! Somehow, he thinks Xavier is relevant to that discussion and that it is a good thing for Dayton they only lost to Xavier 2 out of 3 times this year and 22 out of last 30.

Only makes sense in Muddy's Flyerland.

I've said it before, but if I were a Dayton fan, I don't think I'd ever talk about Xavier on here. I'd be too embarassed trying to compare the two programs knowing how poorly mine has performed over the past 3 decades. But it seems Xavier is all Muddy et al ever want to talk about.

How did this turn into yet another Dayton-Xavier pissing contest? I thought Fordham was the one being bashed here and no Fordham fan here was taking serious exception.
