JESUS CHRIST. How many times do I have to make this clear??? I never predicted Final Four, ONLY SWEET 16. I'll admit, so far we haven't played up to expectations. We've looked pretty lackluster in most of our wins, and lackluster in all of our losses. I would however, refrain from calling UMass a disappointment. In our last 2 games we've reverted back to our old form from last year and we look to be turning a corner this year. We're 7-3, with three MAC games left in the OOC. Barring complete collapse this team will be 10-3 going into conference play. I was hoping for a little better, but in reality this where I myself, and I think everybody else, expected us to be. I would not call being 7-3, 27 in RPI, with a SOS of 10, as being a disappointment. In fact, that is far from it. Why don't all of you naysayers get off your pedestal and actually start watching the damn games. Right now UMass is the most tournament worthy team based on resume in the entire conference besides Butler and VCU. So please, stop scrutinizing a team that is better than yours and actually watch the games so that you won't make ignorant statements like I have seen all of you make (even UMass fans).

For my 500th career post I'd like to say that's better than any Duquesne fan could hope for. No matter how nutty any Duquesne fan could be that would still not be in question. There's no UMass follower other than z-8 who thinks the team will compete for a national title in the foreseeable future, nor is there anyone who thinks our backcourt will reach All American status.

I don't post on umasshoops for many reasons. 1, I will not stoop low enough to that level, as I am above posting there. 2, it's a painful process to sign up. 3, the discussion there is insufferable, it's a bunch of whiny idiots. I don't need to hear 10 strongly-worded love letters to Freddie Riley after every game... Some fans need to give up, he's simply not that good, and never will be.

And to those who think I believe we're a final four team, I don't, and have never said that. I just think it's a possibility, you can't rule it out. I remember before VCU's final four run, I was at a Northeastern game vs them. Keep in mind, Northeastern that year was a very, very offensively challenged team, yet they put up 90 points on VCU and won the game. I was talking to a VCU fan right next to me who claimed that they would be lucky and he would be happy to have even an NIT bid. I agreed. But look what happened once they made the tournament. Once you're in the dance, anything can happen. And that's the message I'm trying to convey. This year's UMass team is still an NCAA team, and once they get there who knows what they're capable of doing. I predict only a sweet 16, but the rest will just be gravy if it turns out to be true. And believe me, if we go further than sweet 16, I'll be there to say I told you so.

P.S. @buckswope, That was hilarious. Credit where it's deserved.
