Re: 12/22 A-10 Games
Unbelievable play by Robinson. I really have no words. It's almost as if he doesn't want to play basketball anymore. Just finish up the last semester for free, get his degree and move on. And why was he in the game?
Secondly, unless our free throw shooting improves dramatically, we won't win many games. Semaj has missed his last 10. I think I heard them say we were 8 for 16? Really? And the offensive foul on Semaj wasn't controversial as someone stated in this thread. It was just plain wrong. The ref made the absolutely wrong call, and decides the outcome of the game. Regardless, Xavier didn't lost because of the refs. We should have never, ever been in that position. Robinson's brainless play and putrid free throw shooting (well, really all shooting all day) is the reason we lost.

Re: 12/22 A-10 Games
I thought there was enough contact that something had to be called. Gutsy call by the official at Cintas. You don't see much of that near the end of the game.

Re: 12/22 A-10 Games
Yes sir, right now the Hawks are the 5th best team in the city (out of 6 including Drexel) with only Penn playing worse.

Again, I hate, hate complaining about calls/officials. And that call certainly isn't the reason we lost, as we should have never been in that position in the first place. But the guy who called the charge was out near the 3 point line BEHIND the play. There was a ref on the baseline that was about 8 feet away from the play. The guy who called it was totally out of position to make that call. I cannot stand when refs inject themselves into the game, particularly at the end, particularly when they are wrong.

Re: 12/22 A-10 Games
Vee Sanford and Matt Derenbecker kept UD in the game for the first 35 minutes, and then Kevin Dillard was simply incredible down the stretch.. Rather obvious that he was in very real pain, but his giant balls would not let UD lose. Khari Price's no conscious three pointer was a huge play, too.
The TEAM defense on Isaiah Canaan was incredible. They forced him to either pass or take tough shots. Aside from the first few minutes, the back side rotations were spot on. The second half was as good as I have seen a UD team defend since 2009. Damn fine win over a very good Murray State team.

Re: 12/22 A-10 Games
I thought that Miller's decision to double Canaan off of every screen was very effective. It was the Brian Roberts defense.

Re: 12/22 A-10 Games
^^^^this (on Adam's post)
Not much to add. This UD team has tons of potential...said it all year, just got to find a way to play consistent. If power rankings mean anything in this league I'd put UD 4th or 5th right now behind those slow white boys from Butler, VCU, Temple. Nice to see Matty D getting it going. Just lethal from deep. In all seriousness, I'd play this lineup quite a bit: PG - Dillard SG - Sanford SF - Derrenbecker PF - Oliver C - Robinson |

Re: 12/22 A-10 Games
That was interesting. It got us burned several times in the first half as no one picked up the screener as he rolled to the hoop. It's impossible to argue with the second half results, though. With a team that has both Canaan and Daniels, you're not going to be able to take away everything. Good decision by Archie and a great result.
