I still have been pretty disappointed with UMass. I don't see them as an NCAA team which I thought they were really good odds to get heading into the year. They are probably in for a year similar to last year which is fine but they have so much talent I think they shouldn't settle for that.

the results are interesting. we've played a much more challenging schedule this year than last and yet both years have us at 7-3 after 10 games. last year we lost to fla st, miami and college of charleston. this year nc st, miami and tennessee. i think this team has more potential than last year.

Uh, it wasn't about his feet being set. You're really off base if that's what you were looking at.

The defender was falling backwards before any contact at all. If begin falling to the ground with no contact, whether you're feet are set or not is massively irrelevant.

I'll repeat, the ref that called it was behind the play at the 3 point line and of course couldn't see it. There was another ref at the baseline about 8 feet away that did the correct thing and made a no call.

If you are going to call out the ref, please be more specific. Which ref? We all hate refs who make repeated bad calls in close games. Who was it?

I really don't get this business about UMass having so much talent. Chazz Williams was the only player to get and pre-season honors. How much talent does that leave the team? St Joe's had three players on preseason teams, and a bunch of other teams had two. What makes UMass so talented? What we were supposed to have was depth, and that's beginning to develop, but our depth took a major hit when Javorn Farrell was lost to ankle surgery. Farrell was our sixth man last year and average 22 minutes per game. He was second on the team in assists. The team also started the year with a giant void at the center position, which is gradually working out. I expect UMass to be very competitive in the conference schedule, don't get too disappointed too soon.

What happened with Semaj's shot? Did it go in? I didn't see the game....family Christmas party. It is taped and I'll watch tomorrow, but so far nothing.

You just look at them and how athletic they are and it is up there with VCU but the coaching seems to be the difference in how that athleticism is used. It is unorganized chaos for a majority of the game and it's frustrating to watch. They did sneak through a few games and so their resume is probably where it should be but you can't expect to play at a consistent level when you play that style. It's why they were so up and down last year as well. They could blow you out by 20 and then turn around and lose by 20 to the last place team. I just think a better set system or style could really harness the athleticism better.

UMASS hasn't been in the tournament since 1998. There really is no reason to expect them to make it this year. Unlike Temple and Xavier UMASS is a lot of talk.
