Charlotte simply had too many unforced turnovers, mistakes on switches that led to open 3's and empty possessions in the 2nd half. Fought like hell to only lose by 3. Disappointing performance against FSU, a game we should have won.

The defender was falling backwards before any contact at all. If begin falling to the ground with no contact, whether you're feet are set or not is massively irrelevant.

I'll repeat, the ref that called it was behind the play at the 3 point line and of course couldn't see it. There was another ref at the baseline about 8 feet away that did the correct thing and made a no call.

If he established his position before Semaj ran into him, he could do the limbo and it would still be a charge.

There sure have been a lot of games since 1998. UMASS still thinks that it is the mid 90's. John Calipari and Dr. J ain't coming through that door.

We've been to the NIT final 4's twice in the last 4 years. Going into this season thought we had a solid chance of being an NCAA team. After the first couple of games thought that the NIT would be a stretch. Now thinking the NIT is solid and if we can keep developing the NCAA is not out of the question.

I don't get this "great athleticism" thing either. I know it was the media consensus, but if you watch the team game in and game out, I don't think you'd find them all that athletic. Sure, Williams and Putney are great athletes, but one's too short and one's too skinny to fully take advantage. Otherwise, the starting five has three players who are average a10 athletes, at best (Morgan, Sampson Carter, and Vinson). The three freshmen are not particularly athletic, either. I grant that there are some good athletes on the bench in Riley and Esho, but they're on the bench for a reason. Cady Lalanne is also on the bench. He's got quick feet, great hands, and a good shooting touch. But he doesn't get more than six inches off the ground, so I wouldn't qualify him as a great athlete either.

For Xavier fans who want to complain about the charge - remember the last time that Wofford came to Cintas they had a 3-pointer that should have counted at the OT buzzer got waved off by the officials. Could be karma, but Xavier can't complain that the game was taken away from them.

If there was no contact at all like you're saying, then, like I said, it's a no call. Shot didn't go in, it got swatted. I guess X would have had 1 second left to try something.

Xband- Read my first couple posts about this. Not blaming the refs at all for the loss. Just attempting to correct Elvis' demonstrably incorrect opinion.

Flyer- Agree it should have been no call. As you said, X would have had about 1 second left on clock after ball went out of bounds.

Would love the hear more about how "Umass still thinks it's the nineties" and is "a lot of talk".

Looks like many folks here have trouble making the distinction between an internet moron and an actual institution and alumni base. Similar to the Muddy Effect in Dayton.

Expectations. I've maintained a 9th place finish for X this year in A10 play. As much as I would love to be gloating or discussing Xaviers downfall, it just isnt as fun when I fully exoected it (this year). UMass had fans declaring A10 title and a FF run.
