Re: Fordham & the A10 - question

RickFC77, you and other Fordham fans seem prone to exaggeration and selective memories. Yes, you won Saturday's game, but you needed some dirty play and useful officials to grab a close decision. Unfortunately URI will not get to re-pay the compliment because unlike last year and your Hail Mary win over the good Rams there is no Ryan Center game this year. Just to restore your temporary amnesia on the subject. Last year, one of the worst teams in URI history easily won the second encounter played at the Ryan Center, 78-58, a rout from the opening tap-off. Chris Gaston played 34 minutes in the contest and scored 9 points and essentially was a non-factor!!

As for more Bronx type exaggeration, I would like to inform you that Dan Hurley and Tom Pecora are friends, so further Fordham misinformation on this subject is just embarrassing to the credibility of your fan base.

None of the Fordham Fans said that Hurley went after Pecora and in fact we posted it was not accurate. However, your assistant was ready to go and get his ass kicked by Jeff Short but fortunately for him he was pulled away. As for dirty play, your soft team decided throw elbows and push guys in the back after the plays were over. Hurley can do whatever he wants I do not care but he should have gotten a technical when he crossed half court to argue a call and his brother had to pull him back. As for calls, the officiating was horrible on both sides. Worst call of the game was the offensive goal tending called on Leonard late in the second half, replay showed ball was off the cylinder.

In yeas past Fordham was soft and URI came out physical and we backed down. That did not happen on Saturday and in the end it was URI that was soft and resorted to cheap shots because you got hammered on the boards. Ask your own coach.

Re: Fordham & the A10 - question

You're delusional. Watch the replay. Fordham showed more dirty moves by several players and you were aided and abetted by the officials. Yes, you won the game, but there is something more to just winning games. It's called character of the program, the school, and its fans. Fordham fans have clearly shown that you are not only bad losers, you are bad winners as well. You come across so eager to debase another team and its coach, but what you succeed at is showing what a bunch of hypocrites you are.

Re: Fordham & the A10 - question

BTW, Rich93, thanks for proving my first statement - exaggeration and selective memories of Fordham fans. Here's a new flash to give you some perspective - The URI team you called "soft" and got "hammered" on the boards was the team that Fordham edged and on their home court. Too bad we don't have a second game with you this year. Because Fordham showed the same bravado last year with your one point win at Rose Hill and then in the return game Fordham got its clock cleaned by 20 points and what we got from the Bronx and their legions of fans was total and utter silence.

Re: Fordham & the A10 - question

Gansett - who threw the elbows? Whose coach had to be restrained? What dirty moves?

Please be specific with your answers. The officiating was horrible - very true. Fordham lost by 20 to you at Ryan last season - also true. Is that relevant to your "dirty moves" comment? NO.

I believe a few FU fans spouted off based on some trash thrown at them by URI fans. It's very rare that a Fordham fan has ammo to throw back in ones face. After Saturday's game, they did and didn't hesitate to throw out some jabs. I saw the game. I like to think of myself as fairly fair when judging the outcome (you will disagree, I am sure). I don't know how you can call the FU fan delusional (your words) because the FU Rams "showed more dirty moves by SEVERAL players". Please provide evidence of this. As far as "character" of the program.. you may be the first poster on this forum to call this team and it's fans "classless". Bad losers and bad winners?? Please. You clearly don't follow the program closely enough to say that. We have the most quiet and least vocal fan base - you are barking up the wrong tree. Relax

Re: Fordham & the A10 - question

I don't have the time to wage war with you, J92, but here is one gem from a low life Fordham fan. (and it's not his first)

"Your coach was universally described as an ass and a joke for his antics on Saturday.

Fits right in with your dump of a school."

Really classy. I always supported Fordham in the A-10 in the past, but no more. BTW, I live in New York so I know what a dump is like. South County, RI is a paradise comparatively speaking.

I'd just like you to back up YOUR comments with facts. Not trying to wage war. Frankly, I don't understand where you are coming from with your "dirty play" commentary. It's one thing to let message board fanatics get under your skin, but it's another to argue a point without a clear example.

The entire point of this thread was to raise just this emotion in the first place. A supposed Fordham fan starting a thread on a board where the program is disliked (kind words) for consistently sucking over the majority of its A10 existence. He succeeded and it is now escalating into this.

One last thing.. as for your coach.. he needs to cool it down a bit. It seems like he gets heated up for 3 seconds, then runs his hands down the side of his jacket and shakes off what was bothering him and continues on coaching. That first reaction - or over reaction - is going to get him in trouble. We at Fordham have seen it with Whit and from a distance with Rice at Rutgers. It's great for a while, but the act grows tiresome if results don't follow. In URI's case, I think the results will come, but he needs to take it down a few notches. To his credit, he said all the right things in the post game presser and was very composed after a very frustrating game.

Good luck the rest of the way.. and yes, I still want to hear about this "dirty play" among "several" players

As with any game that is on TV, I record it and watch it twice. I did not see anything that I interpreted as dirty by Fordham unless you are referring to some jabbering which went both ways. I am biased though, so I would like to hear what it as that you saw that you thought were dirty plays.

Re: Fordham & the A10 - question

i didn't see anything really dirty by either team other than the Hare elbow which I think #42 probably said or did something prior to that. The "push" by Powell was a slight push that the Fordham guy emphasized (no way a guy 5'9" can push a guy that much with his elbow, also Fordham was doing a lot of talking walking back to the huddle).

As for Hurley, a lot of his stomping and yelling is directed at URI players not the refs. He does often get upset with the refs over non calls and did over react on 1 occasion (was out to half court and to be honest I don't remember the situation)

Everyone needs to put this game behind them and move on. URI fans should just ignore Daly (he obviously is completely wrong about Hurley)

Re: Fordham & the A10 - question

I think its just a matter of time.. but Fordham belongs in A-10 and will be competing with the top dogs soon.

Good read here: http://nycbuckets.com/2013/02/fordha...-to-relevance/

Re: Fordham & the A10 - question

I like Fordham and really want them to succeed in the A-10. Having said that, to what concrete evidence can one point to support the idea that Fordham "will be competing with the top dogs soon"?

Re: Fordham & the A10 - question

No "concrete evidence".. just personal opinion, after reading the article, that coach Tom Pecora is finally seeing benefits of his own recruits and with time can only improve the program. Especially in a couple of years, when A-10 will be raided and top 3 teams will be gone (at least according to numerous speculations on this board and on cbs, espn etc).

PS: not a fan or a follower of A-10.. was just browsing the nycbuckets.com for stony brook news and found this article interesting. You all probably know much more.
