I'm mildly surprised Dayton isn't favored. I'm boldly predicting a Flyer win.
So am I.

Congratulations to the Colonials on their win. Time to warm up the bus.

Dayton (+1) plays USC at 7 pm Pac 10 Network

All five of the online bookies now list USC as a 3-point favorite.

This means most bettors have been taking USC minus the points.

Hopefully, they will get hit hard in the pocket around 9:00 tonight.

On the WHIO Radio pregame broadcast, Bucky Bockhorn said that Matt Derenbecker and Devin Oliver were suffering from flu. Bucky said he asked Devin Oliver how he was feeling this afternoon, and Devin replied "bad".

Hopefully, Matt and Devin will feel well enough to play effectively tonight (this afternoon in Los Angeles).

USC 22, Dayton 14 with 7:26 left in the first half.

USC 22, Dayton 20 with 6:21 left in the first half.

Halftime: USC 27, Dayton 20, as the Trojans close out the first half with a 5-0 run.

The Trojans looked a lot better than advertised and clearly out-played the Flyers in the first half.

Fortunately, Dayton is still within striking distance, but the Flyers need to shoot the ball a lot better in the second half after making only 31 % of their FGs in the first half (and 0-5 on 3-pointers).

Former Fordham Ram Jio Fontan is playing great defense on Kevin Dillard.

It's never a good sign when you're giving up points to a guy of whom the home announcers say "He hasn't played a lot of basketball." In any case, USC remembered they are a deficient offensive team and more or less stopped scoring. Hopefully Dillard will find his game in the second half. He's done it before.

Tied at 51 with 2 minutes left to play on an Oliver 3-pointer !

Down 4 at the under 12 timeout with Robinson coming to the line shooting two. I'm afraid to watch these. I probably shouldn't have a shot of whiskey during the break, since I do have to go to the office after the game. Tempted nonetheless. It is New Year's Eve (Day!) here anyway.

USC 43, Dayton 42 with 7:24 left in the game.

This one's not over.

The Flyers are now 0-8 from downtown.
