The Battle for 13th! Should be a good one. Looking doubtful for Welders.

Re: Game Thread St. Bonaventure @ George Washington (Wednesday 1/9/13)
Bonnies have a big edge on the perimeter, GW has big edge inside. Not sure how we will match up when Larsen is in the game. Presumably Garino, out lockdown fresh wing defender would guard conger but that would leave Armwood, the league leading shot blocker defending Johnson or someone smaller on the perimeter.
The other interesting thing is that it's a matchup of strengths and weaknesses. GW is very good defensively, but the Bonnie's have a decent offense. On the flip side the Bonnie's have been bad on d but GW has been abysmal on offense. I figure wright and Kromah are keys. Wright has been a GW killer and if he's hitting threes (or Mosely) it could be tough for GW to score enough. But Kromah is key the other way. He's getting benched for lack of effort against Georgia - and to give freshman kethan savage a shot - if Kromah responds well (not only does GW need him to defend but he is our only sometimes explosive perimeter scorer) he can make GW a very dangerous team.

The only way you become relevant again is to hire another stand-up guy like Coach Cal. Oh wait, what's this I hear about academic integrity? Recruiting violations? What? Final Four? Vacated?

Actually Pomeroy has UMASS ranked 13th in the league so maybe this is the battle for 12th.

Has St. B. ever had a live wolf as a mascot? --I know, I know. Wolves are hard to domesticate.
I was reading this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolves_...orking_animals Seems like it might be cool if you did. (I know, lawsuit risk, etc.) |

Also, speaking of academic integrity and recruiting violations, how bout that welding incident? A little hypocrisy I see... At least our team made a Final Four, your team did nothing.

Re: Game Thread St. Bonaventure @ George Washington (Wednesday 1/9/13)
I think our assholes have already been stretched from the previous games... Chris Johnson and Conger are the only ones who look good on the team. Are bigs were awful, to many missed catches from Ndoye. There were many "no look" passes that just were way off target. GW was nailing three pointers, seems to be a common theme. Why is our three point defense so bad? Oh well, good game GW.

Re: Game Thread St. Bonaventure @ George Washington (Wednesday 1/9/13)
Well, both Kromah and Savage responded to the new roles with 26 combined.
Armwood was usual all-conference self with 11 points, 14 boards, 5 blocks and 3 assists. Garino chipped in 12 points, 5 assists and strong defense. GW is becoming a very good defensive team so it's usually about whether they can make shots and take care of the ball. But I hope those dummies who were predicting 2-3 wins for GW in conference play can recognize now that GW is on the way up, not down- though with 4 freshman starting it will be uneven.
