Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ VCU (Wednesday 1/9/13)
DB, I can't say you are making me excited for tomorrow, but those are really impressive stats. If those two are successful in wearing down/rendering ineffective Kevin Dillard, UD's chances will be slim.
Reddic sounds like a strong player, but he can take all the midrange jumpers he wants. Much prefer that over watching him push Benson around under the rim. I am hoping Oliver can take advantage of his matchup with whoever guards him when VCU goes to 4 guards. Seems like if we can make VCU play "big," we are better off. Looking forward to getting the real season started! Should be fun. |

Hopefully for the Niners, Braswell turns it on and shows what he's capable of in conference play, we're going to need him to perform well to make up for the lack of offense elsewhere. |

I could see anything happening, from a narrow Dayton win to a 30 point trouncing at the hands of the Rams. How's that for making no clear prediction?

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ VCU (Wednesday 1/9/13)
I don't see UD losing by 30...we have 4 losses by a combined 14 points, 3 losses by a combined 4 points. I could see a 15-20 point loss for UD but Dillard will keep UD in this at least for a while. We'll see. Def won't be a blowout in UD's favor though. If UD wins this one, it will be a squeaker. I'm hoping we're down 2 with 10 seconds to go and we finally hit the game winning shot, for once. We're due.

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ VCU (Wednesday 1/9/13)
While VCU is extremely explosive offensively, I'd expect Dillard to keep this game in check for a long time. It will be interesting to see how he handles fresh pressure for 30+ minutes. VCU's defense typically makes you turn the ball over by playing too fast or out of control. It might not affect Dillard as much but some of the others will look confused. Can't wait for it, the students are already lining up and the Stu will be rockin!

I think the odds makers have this one right. A UD fan, but for many of the Dayton players the crowd and VCU defense will be something they've never experienced before. Unless they lose confidence in themselves the Flyers should be well prepared for the challenges that follow after their first two conference games.

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ VCU (Wednesday 1/9/13)
I am really looking forward to the game and the opportunity to see VCU play against the mighty Flyers. However, I can't see how we win this thing. Great team, opening of A-10 play, on the road. I am guessing we get close in the second half and never get over the hump with VCU getting pretty close to covering the spread. Although we did beat Temple on the road last year, which was a complete shock to probably everyone in Flyerland. So I guess you never know.
Thanks for the shoot around picture. Kind of cool. |

I'm getting kind of pumped up in anticipation of tip-off, but fully expect to be horrified by turnovers as soon as it starts.

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ VCU (Wednesday 1/9/13)
I'm really interested to see how A10 assigned refs call this game, and VCU's defense in general. A10 games are usually called in favor of the offense.
