Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Xavier (Thursday 1/10/13)
Maybe but keep in mind they just played at Kansas on CBS 4 days ago so a non-televised game against a 7-6 team no matter what they've done in the past isn't going to have that same fire. It just isn't. That's on Temple, that's not on Xavier, a professional team treats each game like a big game but this Temple team I have noticed plays to the competition. They have so much talent and they are wasting it with performances like tonight and the Canisius game.

If the A-10 office doesn't respect the game for TV purposes, can you really expect Temple to respect X this year?
Xavier has had chances to win every game they've played this year - they were finally rewarded with a good defensive effort tonight. |

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Xavier (Thursday 1/10/13)
Scootie Randall sucks. I say that in earnest. He's not the same guy he was before the injury. He's still a good defender, but he just spots up for 3s now. He used to show some ability to get to the rim and finish. Anthony Lee is our second best player behind Wyatt, and we can't work any offense for him because we don't have any other post players who can score.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Xavier (Thursday 1/10/13)
Fair enough, I guess. But it's impossible for me to get my head around ANY A-10 team coming into the Cintas Center flat (other than some teams in the past who have basically accepted defeat before the game started). Just as I wouldn't expect anyone to EVER take a road trip to Temple lightly. It makes zero sense, even if your last opponent was the Heat.

Xavier has a lot of young talent, but Temple still should have won this game. They will drop other like this one along the road this year. |

I forgot to congratulate X on the win, I don't want to take anything away from them they are a young team who has a good core to build on but I think even X fans would say even they didn't play at a great level.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Xavier (Thursday 1/10/13)
This could go south really quickly for Temple with SLU coming in, hopefully we rebound and erase some of the sting of tonight because a loss there and NIT becomes a much more likely option than NCAA.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Xavier (Thursday 1/10/13)
Congrats to Xavier. I thought prior to this season that Temple had the potential to be a more consistent shooting team than last year's team. Looks like I'm going to be proven wrong. Didn't see the game so I'm not sure how much of TU's shooting woes were the result of poor shooting rather than good XU defense. Sounds like it was a bit of both.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Xavier (Thursday 1/10/13)
Yeah Xavier came up with some gritty plays when they needed to, Taylor was pretty clutch at the stripe and I am sure some of our shooting woes were due to good defense. It's amazing an hour ago I was ready to jump out the window now I am back to being calm and looking at the next game. That's sports. Congrats to you guys and best of luck the rest of the way, hopefully X can perform well in league play to make that not too bad of a loss.

Xavier has a lot of offensive deficiencies this year but their superb defense will keep them in a lot of games.
