Re: Game Thread: #14 Butler @ Dayton (Saturday 1/12/13)
That is what struck me - the fans were booing the call 2x - when it was made; again when it was announced as a 'flagrant 1.' It was clearly flagrant and i'd agree it was probably a F2. For a fan base that pretends to be so good, its absurd to hear them gripe and boo when a guy gets hacked to the point of stretcher/MRI etc.

Yes.... Because I deal in facts and realities and you deal in opinions. Again what I said was all true. If that is "absurd" to you, I am sorry you also live your life in denial. Great intelligent comeback.... People who respond "you will never get it" when asked to clarify their own ambiguous ad hominem arguments are frequently the ones who never get "it".

Re: Game Thread: #14 Butler @ Dayton (Saturday 1/12/13)
Give Butler their due. They're a well coached team, and Stevens has brought in players who not only can play his system, but seem to embrace it. He certainly doesn't have a roster of five star bluechippers, but they play to their strengths.
I agree with ATF, Benson needs to come off the bench. Injuries have I am sure had an affect on his performance, but he is not strong enough and seems to make the same mistakes over and over. Robinson, Scott and Gavs should get more minutes. Love Oliver's hustle, defense and rebounding, but he is a real mason when he shoots from the field or the line. Pierre is going to be a very good player if he keeps working on his game. Dillard I think is trying to do too much. |

By the way Adam The Flyer's points are exactly spot on. Bench Benson, it is our only hope. |

Regarding the game, it was pretty simple. The better team won. We got close, but Butler was too good and disciplined to let us truly threaten. They are old school. They killed us on so many in bounds plays. Dillard is pushing too much. The rest of our seniors are not getting done. Our freshman are showing some nice flashes. It will be an up and down year. |

Once it became clear that Clarke was really hurt and not just shaking off a hard foul, the arena grew silent. And every person in the building gave him a standing ovation, because we appreciate hard play and never, ever want to see an injury. Spare me your shit.

Reading between the lines, it looks like they are targeting the Gonzaga game for Clarke based on Goodman's and Davis' updates.
No disrespect to Richmond, but Id imagine they think they'll be able to manage that one alright. |

Re: Game Thread: #14 Butler @ Dayton (Saturday 1/12/13)
The foul/injury to Clarke was really unfortunate, and I hope he has a speedy and full recovery. I agree that Derenbecker went way too hard on that play.
UD is just not a very fundamentally sound team, and it really showed against an extremely sound team. Their seniors and supposed leaders try to make difficult plays instead of making the right play. Both lose their focus on defense more than anyone else on the team. |

Everyone who follows Dayton knows they typically do pretty well in the big games. It's the others that lead to problems.

Again, Would have to disagree. Big Game Wins are the ones that get you in the Dance. The rest are nice wins that didn't, and are immediately forgotten once you have qualified for the NCAA field. Dance and Advance. That is all.
