Re: Game Thread: VCU @ St. Bonaventure (Saturday 1/12/13)
...which is becoming more apparent game by game. So many of us used to get frustrated with the all the passes that bounced off his hands, but he was a solid rebounder and intimidating on defense. I think Cook is a big reason the team seemed to play so capably in stretches when Nicholson was sitting on the bench in foul trouble.

If only it were 25 degrees colder. The Rams might be enjoying an extended stay in the Enchanted Mountains

Best home game in a while? I think SBU has played an A-10 schedule for a few years. Pretty sure that there have been some good teams in the RC before VCU. It really doesn't matter who they are playing the SBU fans will be "amped" in a big way. A few "sodas" and they don't really care if they are playing VCU or JCC.

I meant this season. I understand that you guys play in the A-10.
I'm sure you guys will be amped. St. Bonaventure's home court advantage is well-documented on these boards.

Re: Game Thread: VCU @ St. Bonaventure (Saturday 1/12/13)
If Bona students get so amped and excited for a game against a $hitty UB team and storm the court (after we blew a big lead to them), imagine what would happen if we actually beat a team that's actually good!
I could see the hoops getting ripped out of the ceiling...

Re: Game Thread: VCU @ St. Bonaventure (Saturday 1/12/13)
Good game. The Bonnies were a game opponent and the place was loud and amped. Bonnies hit 11 three's to keep them in it and 4 in the last 3:28 to get the lead back down to single digits. At no point did I feel that VCU was going to pull away beyond the 13-point margin we briefly had.
The refs called it a little tighter and the pace was much more deliberate. Schmidt did a good job of calling timely timeouts to stem our momentum and keep us from going on our runs. St. Bonaventure took pretty good care of the ball with 16 turnovers with only 7 VCU steals. On the other hand they made us pretty uncomfortable with 10 first-half turnovers and 15 for the game. Much respect to the Bonnies. They gave us all we wanted.
