Just to provide a little more perspective. Fordham went zone defense in the second half, and that slowed us down. It was a 2-1-2 most of the time, which took us out of our usual high post zone offense. Freshman Trey Jones stepped in for some of Jesse Morgan's minutes and did well, 12 pts, 4 assists, 0 turnovers. He did some nice zone busting by getting into the lane and getting off some quick floaters. He also made the key assist that got Freddie Riley an open look for a three pointer that salted the game away. I can't explain the difference in Gaston between halves--maybe some Fordham fan can.

You guys seemed to double him a bit less in the 2nd or the doubles were not as solid. Frazier also had 18 in the 2nd, so perhaps his getting going denied the ability to double as much.

When both he and Chaz are on the floor, Chaz doesn't play the point - he lets Trey take that job while he takes over for Morgan's scoring position. Slightly odd, since Trey is Morgan's backup, but makes sense to get him in there running the floor when that'll be his full-time job once Chaz graduates.

I've also changed my mind about Fordham's zone defense causing us problems. We scored 37 pts against it compared to 40 pts in the first half against their mano a mano. So the difference in the second half wasnt that, it was the 47 pts that Fordham scored. Yikes! That's a lot of points! How that happened I do not know. I guess we missed Jesse Morgan's perimeter defense on Frazier. Good thing we did score 37.

They scored 48 in the first half of the Duquesne game. I haven't watched a lot of Fordham games, but it seems they have no problems scoring points.

We go on some horrible scoring droughts. Heck, we scored 26 in the first half against UMass. I guess that is good for some teams and would be fine for us if we played hard-nosed defense, but we do not. Our defense is what is killing us.

Our big guys can hold their own, but they are often bailing out our guards who get burnt way too often. We need to pick up our defensive intensity, that would make us a much better team.
