Are you kidding me? Olean airport is shut down whenever there is cold weather and some snow? How about the A10 not schedule any games there between December and March?

If every A10 team ponied up I bet we could get this for the airport. No truck needed.

Wanted to make sure that X's final trip to the RC will never be forgotten.

That's a fun drive though, from Olean to Cinncy - lots of scenery. They paint silos in at least 4 different colors nowadays.

Another loss, but at least we've got highlights.

The Olean airport is a general aviation facility only and has limited services. Presumably the brain trust at Xavier and its charter service had that knowledge when it filed a flight plan. Also, presumably, the pilot glances at the weather forecast before filing that plan. There are commercial airports within 33 miles (Bradford, PA) and 78 miles (Buffalo) with full de-icing services that X could have used. It's not terribly different from UMass in that the nearest commercial airport to campus is 52 miles away at Bradley.

But if you guys lose your next game, I give you permission to blame that long bus-ride home. It will rank right up there with Dayton's jet lag.

Re: Game Thread: Xavier @ St. Bonaventure (Wednesday 1/16/13)

I would have to agree. The Pilot should have better assessed the situation and flown the plane to a facility that could have had the team back in the air after the game with a "short" bus ride. Did he forget he was flying to Olean?

On a side note, it is being reported on the Xavier board that the team had to travel (is travelling) 100 miles to Erie, PA, because the Olean airport has no de-icing truck. This is not the kind of press/info the Bonnies need:

Mario Mercurio ‏@MarioMercurio

Olean airport has no de-icing truck. We get bumped to the Erie Airport... 100 miles away. "No one said it is going to be easy."
We have an airport??

Maybe the last trip to Olean. Should be a memorable one.

The dunk was impressive. The blocks would've been nicer if he'd have just tapped them to himself rather than giving it right back to X. I'll never understand the stupidity of blocking the ball hard out of bounds when a guy could easily tap it to himself.

Have you ever smacked someone's shot halfway across the gym? It feels awesome.
