Re: Game Thread: Temple @ George Washington (Wednesday 1/16/13)
Temple wins in the least satisfying way but I'll take that over the most impressive loss any day. Survive for now.

Well we won....
O'Brien came up big with a couple big 3's. Wyatt was feast or famine. I actually thought RHJ was the best player for Temple tonight. We are not a tournament team. |

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ George Washington (Wednesday 1/16/13)
The officiating in this game was absolutely atrocious for both teams. Temple should have been called for a foul when that referee was knocked over with the GW player and they called it out of bounds with no replay. TJ DiLeo was pushed out of bounds after making a defensive rebound twice without a call. Just awful. These guys were amateurs and Temple escaped with a W, but I feel like they should have lost this game.
If Dunphy doesn't bench Dalton Pepper for Quenton DeCosey next game I'm going to lose my mind. Scootie Randall continues to play entirely too many minutes as well. Just a tough night for the Owls. |

GW had this game taken away by some mystery calls... no doubt about it. Some of the worst calls I've seen. Not even close to being correct.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ George Washington (Wednesday 1/16/13)
That foul on Rahlir Jefferson 75 feet from the hoop to put Temple up by 2 was just an awful call. That said, the intentional foul call they gave him earlier was incredibly suspect as well -- although the 2 replays hardly had great angles. Worst officiating I've seen all year in a Temple game.
GW played well for a while, but struggled in the last 5+ minutes. That kid Armwood is very good -- I had no idea he was that talented before this game. |

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ George Washington (Wednesday 1/16/13)
There were horrible calls but I don't think you can say any game was taken away from you when you can't make 1 field goal in the final 7 minutes. There was plenty of opportunities for GW that they just didn't take advantage of so it's unfair to blame everything on officials though I think everyone admits there were some horrible calls.

With that said, the refs had no control of the game. Just flat out missed calls, bad calls, and calls that make you wonder if they understand what a foul actually is. Both teams have reason to be upset. It's frustrating that ball games like these are marred by incompetence. |

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ George Washington (Wednesday 1/16/13)
Yeah it was pathetic the way the game was called and pathetic in some ways the game was played just one of those games where someone has to win and someone has to benefit from poor officiating. Fortunate to have gotten the break but Temple is in for a long season if they think they can play like this and go anywhere.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ George Washington (Wednesday 1/16/13)
What I took away from this game:
- GW is very good defensively. Temple has had some problems missing shots this season, but this game seemed to be more of a case of GW just stifling their offense. - Scootie can still contribute on defense, but looks absolutely lost on offense. - Temple might have the most awkward shooters in the conference. Between Randall, Cummings, Pepper, and O'Brien, I'm not sure whose shot looks worse. - The reffing was bad. GW got the benefit of some questionable calls earlier in the game, but the refs certainly made it up to Temple in the late going. |
