Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ La Salle (Wednesday 1/16/13)
24 turnovers, unbelievable. Benson should get alot of pine time. Play for next year, let the young guys play and get experience. I bet AM wishes he had Davis or Scootchie this year.

Hopefully you guys figure out your problems. I honestly thought this was going to be NCAA-level team for Dayton (and most UD fans on here thought so too, as well as in top 4-5 of A-10). Dillard back for his senior year, Benson, a couple good transfers, Archie. Not unreasonable predictions if you ignore UD's past. Another disappointing year I guess. Didn't see the game... but if the frosh are as talented as some thing- Arch really needs to bench the upperclassmen who aren't getting the job done and start building for next year when they have another good transfer eligible.

It doesn't make the sting of all these close losses go away, and I hate to see Benson play this poorly. The additional ballhandlers coming in next season can hopefully help right away. We made LaSalle look like VCU today. |

Galloway and Wright Took Flight... some monster jams tonight. Dayton hung tough though. Brutal 3 game start to their A10 conference play.

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ La Salle (Wednesday 1/16/13)
Perhaps our big guys are making Scott look good.
Robinson was once a starter, poor defensively,,,,he now has limited minutes. Alex-----was he sick? He never saw the floor. Benson is down right bad. In reality---Scott is very green. He was terrible on defense. He also was in great position to grab that rebound --on the next to last shot Dayton took---he never stood a chance. He's slow. He rarely knows where to be or what to do. Watch the tape.....we played catch up on D every moment he was on the floor. He's young so perhaps he will figure things out. Dayton's interior defense is as bad as Ive ever seen it. There is no fixing that. |

Throwing in the towel already? It's not February yet.......... Dayton still has a lot of wins ahead of them, it is a matter of winning those you should and pulling off X and Temple and possibly St Louis....

Not throwing in the towel, just saying if players aren't getting it done, lets try giving other guys more minutes. Admittedly, UD didn't draw a favorable opening three games, but 62 turnovers in your last three games is bad.

UM, with its 8-8 record last year, was the definition of a second tier A10 team. However, these feloow "2nd tier" opponents, Dayton and La Salle feasted on UMass last year, winning all three games by a combined score of 230-189.

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ La Salle (Wednesday 1/16/13)
no. I'm a hockey fan. And I consider the A10 "tiers" differently than most umass fans, so I just had to comment.
I mean, his statement about 2nd tier of the A10 was not incorrect, but his inflection was that Umass is a better first tier team, and that the second tier in the A10 is somehow the lower class. everyone who actually follows the A10 will acknowledge that second tier teams, including umass and duquesne, dayton and la salle, (they are supposed to be all one class, of which UMass had a 0-4 record against last season) are very capable of feeding on ANY body the rest of the league will throw at them, as well as beating up on each other, which we do quite fine also, especially when UMass is the one taking all the brow beatings. |

Wasn't meant to be a slam at Dayton or La Salle. I'm well aware UMass is a second tier team. Point of info: UMass was 9-7 last year, just like Dayton and La Salle.

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ La Salle (Wednesday 1/16/13)
Very exciting game last night. Sloppy play by both teams but dayton with 24 turnovers cost them the game. I was surprised of the way dillard would completely disappear for large chunks of the game as it was the first time I had seen him play live and had heard good things and was impressed by what ive seen on video. He struggled to control the game on offense and create enough quality positions for the flyers. Jerrell Wright kept lasalle in the game last night which is what lasalle needs on a game to game basis. The guards can hold there own with any in the league. If La salle can get solid contributions like this from Wright, I believe they can contend for the top 4 in the conferences and the first round bye to brooklyn
