Re: Game Thread: Fordham @ Charlotte (Wednesday 1/16/13)
Well, the Niners won I guess. Not a pretty game in any way. Fordham with a game effort, outrebounded the Niners by 12! Also gave the blueprint to other teams with how to defend the Niners (simple, packed-in, 2-3 zone). Frazier scored a lot of points, but made several really bad decisions late in the game. Can't believe Gaston only scored 3, but it still seems like you go to him late in the game to see what he can do rather than jack up bad 3's. Niners were only marginally better. Hope they play better Saturday at Richmond.

Really Enjoyed watching Fordham. Even though Gaston didn't have a great game, he was fighting, rebounding, and playing hard out there. Fordham is going to send a few teams packing this year, who think they will have a sure fire win against the Rams.

Seems they only need a couple of players that can create their own shots. |

What do you guys think Fordham needed more, a better PG or a better SG? We are having that debate on the FU board and I'm curious what our opponents might think after seeing us.

For Fordham, some of the movement and awareness of the open man on O was not good. Also, could tell the defense is a little slow and undersized on the outside. IMHO, a guard whose purpose is to spot up shoot and is typically a liability on D (or non-factor at best) is not the starting point in building a team. Think a PG that adds athleticism and good awareness and quickness is more important.

Re: Game Thread: Fordham @ Charlotte (Wednesday 1/16/13)
Agreed, need more quickness and/or height on the perimeter. Also need someone that can hit jumpshots consistently, Fordham missed a lot of open (sort of) looks. Similar to Charlotte, if you have that issue, you better have some other things you do well, like defend or great ball movement.
It's also hard to get a read on the team when Gaston had such a bad offensive game, missing shots he normally makes. The post play seemed a bigger weakness on offense than the perimeter in this game, even with the huge rebounding advantage (a lot of long rebounds). Canty seems limited, and kind of invisible on offense in this game. |

Re: Game Thread: Fordham @ Charlotte (Wednesday 1/16/13)
Canty was non-existent on both ends last season. He has had some good offensive games this year, but I think with a few exceptions this was some of the most size he saw all season so far. He gets a lot of points off offensive rebounds and putbacks, has somewhat of a baby hook, but he also gets caught up in trying to play too crazy that it costs him some buckets. That dunk being a clear example.
