Re: Game Thread: Duquesne @ UMASS (Thursday 1/17/13)
It was unreal. I was sitting pretty close to it, and it happened so quickly I couldn't believe my eyes. It looked for sure like the ball was going out of bounds and then....kind of like, "What just happened?" Fortunately, they showed it a few times on the scoreboard.

edit: But really, I have to say I'll be impressed if they can even win both the upcoming home games. Every game they've won has been too close at some point or another, and I don't know if it's been luck or skill that pulled them through. It just seems to me like they're walking a tight rope and are bound to fall off. But of course I would love to be wrong about that. |

That may be the reason they are so frustrating to watch. You just can't come to a conclusion as to whether or not they are a good team or not. I suspect they are above average but not an NCAA calibur team IMO. As long as Putney continues to play like he has so far, they will get tattoo'd by the top 4 teams, split with the next 4 and beat the rest. That gets them to 10-ish conferene wins but none agianst the good teams and leave them on the outside, looking in ---- unless Putney wakes the "F" up some time soon.

Which was....?
re: Putney, I like the way he played in the second half last night. He just hung around the basket and used his height. I don't know if he'll have any success with that against a big team like GW, but I'd like to see more of it against La Salle. edit: minutes from Putney are really valuable with Jesse being injured, so I hope he can keep finding ways to contribute.
