Wow. What a game. LOL at the court-storming, but hey that's a heck of a win.
Tons of respect to the Spiders. They refused to lose. They did everything they needed to do to win and shot the lights out.
When Brothers hit that 30-footer to force OT, I knew it was over.
Congratulations to Richmond. That's a great way to start the A-10 rivalry. We'll hopefully learn from this, but unfortunately this probably knocks us out of the top 25 and we lost a chance to separate ourselves at the top.
I would not want to be La Salle on Saturday, but I also would not want to be the VCU Rams tomorrow either. LOL
Good game Richmond, and congratulations on a well-earned win.
Surprised that Richmond blew them out in overtime. It seems as though VCU were the ones to get tired this time. Though I'm sure the end of regulation was really deflating.
Hopefully that is the shot in the arm we needed to propel us forward. The league is wide open. Team showed some toughness tonight that has been missing. Taylor is blossoming into something special. Very excited about the Spider freshmen.
LOL clark1a, all I could think of when Brothers hit that 3 to tie was 'I know EXACTLY how St. Joe's felt last week now.'
Man... tough way to lose, but I think we expended a lot of energy trying to claw back from that putrid first-half. We had a lot of trouble with Richmond's zone.
Obviously bummed that we lost, but as a basketball fan, WHAT A GAME. If that was the A-10's introduction to UR-VCU, it couldn't have been much more entertaining than that.
We weren't going to go undefeated (no one thought we would), and you never want to have to lose to learn lessons, but you usually heed them better when you don't get the result. I hope that we learn from this, because there are only more tests against similarly excellent squads on the road coming up.
...and damn, Richmond can shoot the **** out of the ball. They've got some unreal shooters on that squad.

Smart was lucky to not get a technical as he was clearly out on the floor out of the coaches box. After I calm down will watch the last 5 min of the game againn to see just how they stole the game from VCU and took it to them in OT. 17-5 blasting in overtime, something Smart didn't see coming, nor did the color announcer who seemed in love with VCU.

That was a classic. Usually against the court storming but when you exchange threes for one makes at the free throw line to come back in improbable fashion against your rival and they are ranked, I'll allow it.
I think tonight was an example of two different styles of coaches. Both very savy but calm won out over a very energetic Smart. Also don't quite understand how VCU gets away with ridding their opponents down the floor and under the basket without getting called for a foul, when the other team seems to breathe on them and get the foul call. Guess that is why I am a fan and not a ref.
If I were a betting man I would have put money on a win for VCU with less than a minute left in the game. Good thing I don't bet, be broke.
