2012-13 Lock of the Day Contest, Week 12
There are many people close to having enough picks to qualify for the post season and this contest is more fun when more people are vying for the playoffs. I encourage everyone to continue picking, no one is out of it. (There are about 56 days of picking left and you need 57 to qualify for the playoffs so if you have made a pick you can still qualify)
If I made any mistakes please PM me and I will fix it. 2005-06 regular season champ: PVP 2006-07 regular season champ: EC Basketball 2006-07 NCAA champ: rhodyruckus 2006-07 NIT champ: Lari Ketner 2007-08 regular season champ: coolpohle 2007-08 NCAA champ: A10fan 2007-08 NIT champ: bkaniecki 2008-09 regular season champ: CarlosTheJackal 2008-09 NCAA champ: Knobby 2008-09 NIT champ: Lari Ketner 2009-10 regular season champ: mh05 2009-10 NCAA champ: EC Basketball 2009-10 NIT champ: A10fan2 2010-11 regular season champ: DukesDan 2010-11 NCAA champ: CarlosTheJackal 2010-11 NIT champ: twisted3829 2011-12 regular season champ: JHG722 2011-12 NCAA champ: Bona84 2011-12 NIT champ: stl775 Here are the rules: 1. Pick one game a day. This can be from any conference at any time of the day. You must use the following lines to participate: Pinnacle Sports You may mention additional games that you like, but the one that you post first will be the one we'll use when determining wins and losses. I will update the standings within 12 hours of the completion of each day's final game unless I note my absence. For easier computation, please use the following format to post your picks: date: winner (line) over loser For example ... 11/11: URI (-22) over Providence You can denote the home team by using caps if you'd like, but it is not necessary. Lastly, please use the lines for that day's game. At the very least, you can use the overnight line, but that is not encouraged. Again, use the odds from the site listed above to pick against. You may also pick a game's over/under. 2. Update your initial post. Instead of posting your pick in a different message each day, simply update your initial post for the week. Put the most recent pick below the previous picks (i.e. Nov. 11's pick after Nov. 10's and so forth) when listing. 3. You will not be penalized for missing a day. In a perfect world, everyone on this board will make a selection each day, but I, like everyone else, have things to do and places to be. So if you miss a day, that's fine. The player with the highest win-loss percentage at the end of the season will be crowned our champ and universally respected. However, the champion must make an average of three selections or more over the course of the season to qualify for the title. 4. Record your success. This is optional. To highlight whether you've won or lost on a day or on previous days, you can change the font of your entry to green for a win or red for a loss (blue for the rare push). To do so, put "color=green" in brackets before your selection and "/color" in brackets afterward to denote a win; do the same for red if you lose. Or just choose the color from the menu above your message. However you do it, it will read: 11/11: URI (-22) over Providence (If everyone could do this it is a big help) 5. Playoffs: In order to qualify for the postseason, you must have averaged three selections per week over the course of the season. We're looking at 19 weeks - that's regular season and conference tournaments - so multiply the weeks by three and that's your minimum (57) ... not that hard to achieve. The top eight who qualify will be entered into the NCAA pool; the next eight will compete for the faux NIT title. It will be set up like a bracket - 1 v 8, 2 v 7, etc. Each participant then must select five games each week from the NIT and NCAA schedule to meet his tournament quota. Also, one must assign one of the picks as his TIEBREAKER pick; the amount by which you win or lose will break ties with participants with the same record. Winners will advance to the semis, then the finals, etc. STANDINGS thru 1/27 (33 picks needed) Code:

1/28: Pittsburgh (+6) vs. LOUISVILLE. Have to love the meaningless 3 at the end that saves you a push! 1/29: Kentucky (+3) vs. OLE MISS 1/30: Oregon vs. Stanford UNDER 139.5 1/31: Loyola-Maryland (+4.5) vs. CANISIUS 2/1: FAIRFIELD (-8.5) vs. Rider. 2/2: CHARLOTTE (-1) vs. UMass 2/3: Rider (-3) vs. MARIST. As a bonus pick I will also take Baltimore (+3) vs. the 49ers in the Super Bowl. I think it was actually 3.5, and too bad it doesn't count. Oh well, bragging rights... Re: 2012-13 Lock of the Day Contest, Week 12
1-29 Ohio St v Wisc 119 OVER Thus endeth my little midseason streak. NEXT.
1-30 NOVA -7.5 @ ND 12-31 Butler +3 @ St. Louis Posterized! Back to .500. Groan. 2-2 Cincinnati -5.5 @ Seton Hall Another "edit-save" shafu.... I took Cinci and gave points, saved/edited several times. Even followed the "reason for editing" ploy, but it was not showing this morning on the board, still in my "edit" when I opened. This board is wack. Last edited by CarlosTheJackal; 02-03-2013 at 10:16 AM. Reason: Cinci -5.5 |
