Re: Could the best team in the CAA win the A-10?
The A-10 champions last year lost to Arkansas State at home. RPI of 224.
Maine with an RPI of 261. Not too big of a margin. It's all kinda crapshoot once you get past 150. Still, even without Jon Lee, that loss perplexes the mind. Oh well, we're playing better ball now.

Re: Could the best team in the CAA win the A-10?
Northeastern would probably go 6-10 in the A10. They have a decent offense, but a horrible defense according to kenpom. Kenpom also has the A10's top 11 teams as better than the best CAA team, which isn't even Northeastern!

Re: Could the best team in the CAA win the A-10?
Duren drove the lane, was heavily defended, jumped sideways and made an impossible reverse shot as the horn sounded. There was no "foul," but he's certainly fortunate to have the ball go in while running off balance and not run out of time.
COULD Northeastern beat A10 teams? Wait no, they are 0-3 so far, and A10 teams deal with line up changes and injuries throughout the season as well, so no excuses. Could Northeastern win the A10? Absolutely not. They'd qualify for Brooklyn, they would not win a game there. In past years for a very short while, the top of the CAA was better than the A10, but this year and last, not so much. |

And yes they could easily beat A-10 teams. They're 0-3 vs 3 of the top 5 and lost by close margins without their second leading scorer. Charlotte and La Salle have suffered no injuries, and UMass had Jesse Morgan at the time. I'm sure any UMass fan (or anyone who watched) can agree with this, without Jesse Morgan, UMass would not have won that game... Again, that's why they play the games, I think you'd be surprised by NU.

Re: Could the best team in the CAA win the A-10?
just to be clear. they played the games and lost them all. that is why they play the games.
whatever happens in your imaginary fantasyland where tony romo is nfl mvp and northeastern and umass make the final four every year is of no relevance here.

Re: Could the best team in the CAA win the A-10?
Wait, UMASS and Charlotte are in the top 5 of the A10? That must make GW #1! Who-hoo!
Seriously, I don't know what the funniest part is. Is it: 1) I'm not trolling, but... 2) NE could win the A-10 despite it's 0-3 record so far. 3) UMASS is a top 5 A-10 team. I think I vote for #3.

From everything I've observed...including his semi-regular predictions...he's a genuine homer who is battling a chronic addiction to kool aid...the dude doesn't even bother mixing it with sugar and water he just snorts the shit up his nose

So basically La Salle can say that they beat Northeastern, on the road, playing without one of our key players as well. Fact is La Salle won the game and Northeastern lost. And La Salle won on the road playing without Garland. You might want to do a little research before you claim teams were playing without anyone missing, because obviously La Salle was not playing with the same team they have now when they played Northeastern, and La Salle still won the game on the road. Just FYI. Last edited by cpico; 01-29-2013 at 12:27 AM. |

Re: Could the best team in the CAA win the A-10?
Northeastern currently leads a league that has gone a combined 2-17 versus the A-10 this season. The only two wins were both by George Mason, 55-52 at home over URI and 67-64 over Richmond on a neutral site. It is a league that even lower level A-10 teams Duquense and URI have wins over. The Huskies themselves played three A-10 teams and lost all. I therefore think it is a pipe-dream to think Northeastern could contend in the A-10 this season.

Re: Could the best team in the CAA win the A-10?
I wasn't going to comment, because our friend z8 would just use it as another opportunity to take an irrelevant shot at the Bonnies.
At this point in the season, Northeastern looks to be pretty comparable to this year's Bona squad, at least based on the numbers guys. RPI Northeastern 114 Bona 135 Pomeroy Northeastern 138 Bona 111 Sagarin Northeastern 131 Bona 118 Put whatever twist on it you will, as long as it makes you feel better. But, it looks like your 8-0 Huskies would be fighting it out with the team you call schitty for a spot in Brooklyn.
