Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ Xavier (Wednesday 1/30/13)
Dayton was outmuscled, outhustled and outcoached the whole game. The end game failures on the missed X free throws was a microcosom of the whole game. I realize Derenbecker is not strong defensively, but UD is not a great defensive team when he is not in the game. He should get more then 9 minutes of time. Scott and Gavs must be really poor in practice if they can't cut into Benson's minutes. A team relying on seniors for performance and leadership isn't getting it. X had almost as many offensive rebounds as UD had total rebounds.

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ Xavier (Wednesday 1/30/13)
I've gotta ask: After all of the Internet blow-jobs that muddy gave to (Devon?) Scott when he was in high school, how is it the kid can't even touch the court? Just curious, is the kid a bust, or what's his deal? I don't think I saw him play one minute last night.

Flagrant Elbow to the man zone. Should have been a flagrant 1 or 2 (no idea which is which) Just kidding, maybe an +1?
Can we get some cutting and pasting of the above Dunkee's high school defensive stats?

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ Xavier (Wednesday 1/30/13)
I think people expected him to be more game ready than he is, but he is a freshman big. Most thought he would be ahead of Robinson on the depth chart and that obviously hasnt happened. But Robinson does well and will be a good big man for UD for the next three years. Scott will probably be more of a role player. Like a lot of freshman bigs, I think Scott is having more trouble playing against players that he can't physically dominate.
All that said, he should have played last night. He is one of the only guys on our team that will foul someone hard or get in someone's face. Those were the types of attributes taht were lacking last night. The rebound stickback that Benson gave up to Philmore with like 4-5 minutes left was truly the most pathetic rebounding effort I have ever seen. |

How much did Xavier pay the refs this game?
Awful push in the back on Dee Davis's 1/1 miss. The stripes cost us the game. We will win by 25+ at UD easily

Your blathering stupidity was too much for even Faux News.
Since you've got some extra time on your hands, you might want to think about updating your signature line. (I see you figured it out. Good job)

Of course the big differences are that Miller spent a scholarship on Derenbecker and hustle, pride, and toughness are much harder to instill in a player than getting one to work on, and improve, his shooting!

To me that would mean every member would have at least 2 trips to the NCAA Tourney and 5 winning seasons during each 10-year cycle. It would also be great for every program to seriously challenge for a league title (either regular season or Tourney) at least once during that same period of time. |

It's a good thing it came out of that end. I heard that with all the rain we are having that the septic tank known as UD arena has backed up again with raw sewage.

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ Xavier (Wednesday 1/30/13)
Wow. When your opponent grabs more offensive rebounds in a game than you grab total rebounds, you know you are in a world of hurt. I mean, damn. Box out once or twice please.
I'm not sure which Xavier player it was, I think Philmore (maybe Robinson?), epitomized the game, when he has the ball at the top of the hoop, and runs by his defender down the right side of the key, and slams it home. I mean, really, it was like the Dayton Flyers were the offensive line for their running back who is wearing a Xavier jersey. And the Robinson alley-oop from the timeout was nice, and it was nicer when I saw the replay to see how high up he grabbed the ball. It wasn't any type of fancy throw-me-down, but he got some major hops there. Let me list the Dayton positives: . Well, let's at least beat Saint Louis in Saint Louis on Saturday. Wait. Butler is going to lay a smack down on them tonight, therefore we will get the revenge-minded Billikens instead of the we-just-won-no-big-thing Billikens. At least we have the tiebreaker advantage over Fordham and Duquesne. But, crap, we play AT Rhode Island. Battle for 13th place that will be ... |

Re: Game Thread: Dayton @ Xavier (Wednesday 1/30/13)
Unlike most years, this was the first time I had seen UD play. I was really impressed with the freshman Robinson. He is going to be a good one. Sanford and Derenbecker also did some nice things.
You guys may be better off without Benson. Just doesn't seem to have the right mentality out there. Good luck the rest of the way. |
