Sanely, I probably agree with you. I just wonder what is going to happen with the remaining games.

Home: St Josephs, Temple, Xavier, Richmond and Saint Bonaventure
Road: Saint Louis, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Charlotte and George Washington

I'm not sure any of those games can be marked off (as much as anyone truly can in the wild wild A10) as victories. I suppose Richmond and St Bonaventure would top the list being at home. Maybe Charlotte on the road? That would give us 5 victories, and that should send us to Brooklyn. Maybe we can beat Xavier at home, and Rhode Island on the road (not holding my breath), and that would put us at 7 victories.

The Flyers had chance to win versus La Salle and Xavier, and they couldn't get it done. Are the players going to realize they need to bring it every 40 minutes, or not? What is going on with the personnel and who gets to play? Coach probably won't tell us.

I know, only 6 games into a 16 game conference schedule, but they just haven't performed consistently well. One half of good basketball in this game, and another half of good basketball in a different game. We need 2 good halves in 1 game. X fans rail on Flyer fans for "wait until next year", heck, I'm starting to say, "wait until next game".

I would be really surprised if you don't pull off at least 6 victories from that list. There are a couple teams in this league that are really bad and the rest of them will congregate in the middle somewhere. Dayton definitely doesn't fall in that "couple teams" category.

So for any of you that have not blocked me.... This is the single biggest reason Muddy is the tool du jour of this forum and why I continue to not let it go....

Where is the congratulations for a game well played by X? Where is the admission that maybe, possibly, the 8-22 record prediction for X was a little off base? The pot shots are OK, even pushing your position that your team is wildly better than the reality of the situation is acceptable.

It is the lack of acknowledgement of being wrong or acceptance of the truth when it becomes reality that just sucks the life out of this board (even more than my continued railing on him). The ad-nauseum recruiting reports, side by side comparisons, and "Observations" are patehtic, when there is no acknowledgment of error. Simple silence until the dust settles on yet another wrong observation, to only reappear with more ludicrous observations. As god-aweful as some of your X preditions were, even some of the X faithful couldn't argue with you at the time, now it's time to pay up and you are nowhere to be found?

Xavier - nice game (AGAIN) - I thgought this was the year that Dayton would finally break the curse. I guess I should have known better.

This is exactly why I root for X whenever they play Dayton.

It was a great college basketball game, both teams played hard. I sat in front of some Dayton fans who were just as perceptive as the Xavier fans about how Mack was coaching with set plays out of time outs, and how the Redford decoy in the corner was holding the help defender when Semaj and his screener were working the pick and roll.

Dayton has better personnel, by a slight margin. Mack is coaching and motivating better. I expect Dayton to give payback later this month @ The Dump. It's a great series and a great rivalry.

Incidentally, the ref who went down had a serious lower leg injury. I thought the two left to carry on did a pretty good job given the circumstances.

I will join the chorus that says Muddy needs to man up in these situations. But, actually expecting that to happen is insane. While I definitely don't disagree with you, Knobby, its time for your to come to terms with it. I have been amazed by his willingness to make ridiculous statements and simply disappear when they don't come to fruition. Its cowardly, of course.

But also, his attacks are so ridiculous. Jeff Robinson became "Splinters" because he was a freshman that didn't get to play? I htink every team in the country has those. Devon Scott could be "splinters." Same with Andrew Taylor - he was Muddy's whipping boy for a while. He's a freaking walk-on! Its like making fun of Mitch Asmus. Every team has them, and its hardly a cause for ridicule.

Oh by the way, both of those guys, despite their relatively small roles within the X teams they were on, managed to torch us in Cincinnati. So they got the last laugh (since I have no doubt they follow this board ). They are still waiting for their apologies, Muddy.

Thanks - and I totally agree with the ref coment. There were no egregiously missed calls or any really bad calls IMO.

Muddy has a jaundiced eye with his view of the Xavier program. As an X fan he doesn't bother me as I think of him as the "village idiot" of these boards. I get a good laugh from his foolish posts. I think most normal UD fans (bpritchard etc.) are probably embarrassed by him. I'll give him this that he does a good job giving UD fans player updates on Flyer recruits.

Thanks, although I'd add that too many people saw that Xavier was down (compared to years past) and never really noticed that Dayton wasn't that much different compared to Xavier. When all things are equal, I'd just pick Xavier until Dayton really has the alpha dog that won't accept losing as an option.

If they still had matchup nightmares like Chris Johnson or Paul Williams in their lineup, their chances of winning would have been better. Kevin Dillard can't break a 30+ year streak all by himself.

But that was the whole point - it was hard to argue for X as you were coming in with a very unproven new line up. At least Dayton had Dillard who should have been the best player on the floor. Was it a reason to predict 8 total wins for X and 20+ wins for Dayton - lets just call that a "bad observation".

Now comes the fun part. Dayton could lose the next three in a row - totally dibilitating the Daytonites - and then they will wake up and go on a nice run to get everyone's hopes up and Muddy wil be back and better than ever to let eveyone know about it - that should include a solid victory over X in their own barn and probably beating Umass at Umass. You will think the coming of a Red Sweatervested-Chriest is in the works until they get pummelled in the final 2 home games of the season.

I don't doubt this at all. Though, UD's mantra used to be "play to the level of your competition", but we dismantled Fordham and Duquesne this year, where normally we would squeak out a victory. I'm concerned about the remaining games, but it is such an unknown about which team Dayton puts on the court. The team that gives a darn and rebounds? Or the one that wants to go back to campus to their girlfriends? The first team can challenge for victories, the second one is doomed to lose before the opening tip.

As you say, we can lose the next 3, then go on a tear. Depending on what is in their heads, they could actually win the next three, and then lose a bunch. It is so up-and-down with them it's pathetic. Again, the A10 feeding on each other...
