Re: Game Thread: Xavier @ Duquesne (Saturday 2/9/13)
I'll take it but besides Fordham X can't play that bad and expect to win. Good news is Martin looks to be coming out of his slump and Philmore is starting to be the guy they thought he was.

Re: Game Thread: Xavier @ Duquesne (Saturday 2/9/13)
Curious whether Duquesne fans think firing Everhart was the right move. He'd sort of lost momentum there and was fielding mediocre teams year after year, but this is one of the worst A-10 teams I've ever seen. Obviously he's partly (mostly?) to blame for this team being awful, but at this point do Duquesne fans think they're going to be better off without Everhart longer term?

Re: Game Thread: Xavier @ Duquesne (Saturday 2/9/13)
Let's not forget that the transfers of McConnell and Talley happened while Everhart was still the coach last year. Something in-house was going on that caused Duquesne to take a closer look and let Everhart go.
Duquesne still hasn't beaten Xavier since the Snuggie Brigade 4 years ago. |

Yes, both players (and a lightly used reserved guard) all transferred prior to the firing. I don't want to go too much into it, other than to say that its probably 50/50 among the fan base about the firing. It is also probably 90/10 that the firing and history leading up to it were not handled well. I've seen far worse A-10 teams - including former Dukes teams. The non-conference portion of the year showed some glimmer of hope and the team has been competitive in a number of conference games before ultimately falling. The most important metric - winning - has not been met, but a good freshman class is getting a lot of playing time. I'm sure they are learning, but I'm also hoping that they can learn to win. Big difference.

More reasons why Amodio really shouldn't be on Xavier's short list for A.D.--- but knowing Graham and the fact Xavier is handling it in-house without a search firm, Amodio will probably be the guy.
