Josh Benson was already in hot water with UD fans coming into this game; he's got the presidential suite in their doghouse right now.

I still think Dunphy is a good coach but there are things that drive you crazy too. It's been a strange, strange season and it kinda reminds me of Xavier's season last year only minus the brawl incident.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Dayton (Saturday 2/9/13)
Dayton gave this one away like about five others previously this season. I guess we're trying to set the NCAA record for one- and two-point losses in a season.
UD fans are cursed by Satan from a previous life. You know things are bad when even fan bases of opposing teams look at your annual dysfunctional, under-achieving, find-another-way-to-lose basketball program and just stand back in awe. The Rhode Island game is coming up soon. Have we started taking bets on which Ram is going to hit the last-second shot to win it? Just another annual right of passage.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Dayton (Saturday 2/9/13)
Frank Scagliotta, scumbag ref, tried to give Dayton the game with that bogus foul call against Temple prior to the inbound pass.
Scags needs to be retired from officiating at any level.

Yes, frank Scagliotta ... He has screwed La Salle numerous times over the years. I thought he was retired from the A10 but unfortunately he hasn't been. He is not welcome at Gola Arena nor the Palestra.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Dayton (Saturday 2/9/13)
But even with the golden ticket, Dayton thankfully pulled an Augustus Gloop and fell into the chocolate river.
I'd still be surprised if they finished 13th, though. Their schedule is mostly going to be filled with middling teams in the conference. |

Didn't see the game, but I'm not surprised to hear it was Scagliotta. He butchered the UR-X game last weekend about 10 different ways. He really does need to hang them up or have someone do it for him.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Dayton (Saturday 2/9/13)
Looked to me like Dillard brushed the ball with his fingertips on the way out, as it seemed to change direction after passing his hand. But not the best angle for determining that. Very close play, and a nice job by the Temple players to avoid the foul there.

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Dayton (Saturday 2/9/13)
The story of this game was Dayton losing a 10 point lead with 5 minutes left. Unbelievable. Last three possessions for Dayton: (1) Sr. PG turnover, (2) Sr. PG turnover, (3) Sr. PF misses two free throws.

Really? The Flyers played very well . They got to the rim. They hurt Temple down low. They out shot Temple. They outrebounded the Owls. They out played Them. They got to the line more often. Dayton had more assists. Dayton was the better team and Archie was the better coach on this day.... Temple got very lucky. Your coach himself said as much after the game. Instead of whinning about the refs you should be thanking your lucky stars because there is no way in hell you guys should have won that game. Dayton out performed your team in every catagory. So I find it amusing Temple fans would come oh and cry like babys as if they nearly got robbed or something. You played like crap.... Last edited by tman; 02-11-2013 at 10:34 AM. |

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Dayton (Saturday 2/9/13)
UD went off the attack. Went to the ole defense. Temple isn't known for their defensive prowess. Archie tried to slow it up and got burned. Missing 10 ft's in the 2nd half didn't help.

I don’t blame the Flyers for milking the clock a little. At that point in the game the only way Temple can beat you is to hit everything they toss up,(they did, 6 for 6) you have to turn the ball over and over(we did), and you need to miss a bunch of free throws( we missed them all). How often is that going to happen? Like almost never. Why not be patient? It makes good sense. But somehow, someway ,everything that had to happen, happened. |

Re: Game Thread: Temple @ Dayton (Saturday 2/9/13)
Dayton did what they were supposed to do with the game in hand with just a few minutes remaining. They ran the clock and made people other than Wyatt shoot. Randall and O'Brien hit big shots to keep Temple within a couple of possessions.
Starting with Benson completely leaving Lee alone for a dunk, the rest of the game was a botched abortion from all 12 people on the floor not named Khalif Wyatt. Two underperforming teams did what underperforming teams do, they tried every way possible to lose the game. Refs who work for the $ the A10 pays did what refs who work for the $ the A10 pays do. Only one of them had a guy who could bury a three while being guarded like the North Korean border. The best description I saw was on twitter: "Temple and Dayton lose, 72-71."
