Re: Game Thread: St. Joseph's @ Massachusetts (Saturday 2/9/13)
That is now two in a row where they took care of business. After a predicatable 6 minute run where they let things get close, they put it together and pulled away. That is was many Umass fans expected from this team for the whole season.
They played fast but under control and ONLY 5 TURNOVERS! When you can count the really poor shots taken on one hand plus the lack of turnovers, that is a recipie for an 18 point win! Right now they have some control over their desitny, but they have to play like this versus Butler and VCU and hopefully get at least one W in the process....

That was the best game I've ever seen Freddie Riley play. (I've probably missed 50% of them though). And the best I've seen Chaz play, this season. The team does seem to be coming together, maybe Kellogg does know what he's doing.

Re: Game Thread: St. Joseph's @ Massachusetts (Saturday 2/9/13)
Whoa Bill, that's crazy talk....
Seriously, that was the most under control I have ever see Chaz play! He still tried to drive, but he was not leaping into the air and getting stuck throwing up a bad shot or a wild pass, instead he kept his dribble and just kept going through the lane and resetting. Even when St Joe's made that run to come back a little bit, it did not feel like something they could sustain or that Umass had really lost any control.

It was Black Russian night at the Dance household, but I still liked what I saw. Except the sight of Cady Lalanne at the free throw line. If Martelli is a better coach than Kellogg, it wasn't on display Saturday.

Perhaps Phil should be brought back to life ala Frankenstein - he already has "the look" down pat....

For the season though, yes, he's not too bad. He just didn't look good the other day. You should be conserving energy kbatz, for your next rant about the refs. The VCU game may be a rare instance when it's justitifed. Last edited by bdance; 02-12-2013 at 04:23 AM. |
