Re: Game Thread: St. Louis @ Richmond (Saturday (2/9/13)
Spiders get Derrick Williams back for this one, and Kendall Anthony is in better health too after a week off. St. Louis is probably the best team to come into the RC this year, so I expect a battle. I think our home momentum will be just enough to pull one out. UR 62, SLU 60.

Really looking forward to this one. Richmond has struggled against good half court defense teams. SLU will be one of the best half court defense teams we play.

As a SLU fan this game has had me worried since the schedule came out. 2nd road game this week for SLU. Richmond has had a full week to prepare. No matter how big of a lead either team gets, I expect it to be close in the last 5 minutes.

Big roadie for SLU. Both teams can really help their positioning with a win.

I think SLU will be in our shooters' shorts. This is a great game to have D-Will come back to give us a bit of an inside game. Our half-court offense has not been good this year and SLU will force us into it. I think (a flip flop of how we have historically played under Mooney) that we try to push the pace in this game and SLU tries to force us into a half-court game.

Re: Game Thread: St. Louis @ Richmond (Saturday (2/9/13)
Other than that bizarre home loss to Rhode Island, SLU has been lights out for almost 10 solid weeks, the most consistent team in the A10 (with Butler and VCU behind them).
Spiders will have to come out firing, avoid the let ups that plague their offense, b/c unlike other squads, I have a feeling that once SLU clamps down, they won't let you open it back up, as VCU did. Ideally, I'd hope that the Spiders get the benefits of home cooking and some of those SLU guards get in foul trouble. Looks like there was some of that at Fordham. As usual, Brothers and Anthony will have to be on their games and the Spiders will have to limit the damage on their defensive glass. Hopefully, a week to prepare and a Saturday evening home crowd has the Spiders ready and amped.

Re: Game Thread: St. Louis @ Richmond (Saturday (2/9/13)
Man, ugly game.
Spiders forcing tons of SLU turnovers - at least 9 so far through 16 minutes, but can't hit water on their offensive end. 16-15 SLU under 4 timeout. 5 players with 2 fouls, 3 for SLU and 2 for UR. Spiders also looking tight on shots, missing some easy attempts, mishandling passes, etc. Derrick Willams back, 2-4 FTs, 2 points, 2 fouls and a steal so far.

23-19 SLU at the half. Turned off the webstream to avoid the promised scores and highlights at the half. That can only lead to tears.
