Here are the rules:
1. Pick one game a day. This can be from any conference at any time of the day. You must use the following lines to participate:
Pinnacle Sports
You may mention additional games that you like, but the one that you post first will be the one we'll use when determining wins and losses. I will update the standings within 12 hours of the completion of each day's final game unless I note my absence. For easier computation, please use the following format to post your picks:
date: winner (line) over loser
For example ...
11/11: URI (-22) over Providence
You can denote the home team by using caps if you'd like, but it is not necessary. Lastly, please use the lines for that day's game. At the very least, you can use the overnight line, but that is not encouraged. Again, use the odds from the site listed above to pick against. You may also pick a game's over/under.
2. Update your initial post. Instead of posting your pick in a different message each day, simply update your initial post for the week. Put the most recent pick below the previous picks (i.e. Nov. 11's pick after Nov. 10's and so forth) when listing.
3. You will not be penalized for missing a day. In a perfect world, everyone on this board will make a selection each day, but I, like everyone else, have things to do and places to be. So if you miss a day, that's fine. The player with the highest win-loss percentage at the end of the season will be crowned our champ and universally respected. However, the champion must make an average of three selections or more over the course of the season to qualify for the title.
4. Record your success. This is optional. To highlight whether you've won or lost on a day or on previous days, you can change the font of your entry to green for a win or red for a loss (blue for the rare push). To do so, put "color=green" in brackets before your selection and "/color" in brackets afterward to denote a win; do the same for red if you lose. Or just choose the color from the menu above your message. However you do it, it will read:
11/11: URI (-22) over Providence
(If everyone could do this it is a big help)
5. Playoffs: In order to qualify for the postseason, you must have averaged three selections per week over the course of the season. We're looking at 19 weeks - that's regular season and conference tournaments - so multiply the weeks by three and that's your minimum (57) ... not that hard to achieve.
The top eight who qualify will be entered into the NCAA pool; the next eight will compete for the faux NIT title. It will be set up like a bracket - 1 v 8, 2 v 7, etc. Each participant then must select five games each week from the NIT and NCAA schedule to meet his tournament quota. Also, one must assign one of the picks as his TIEBREAKER pick; the amount by which you win or lose will break ties with participants with the same record. Winners will advance to the semis, then the finals, etc.
STANDINGS thru 2/10 (39 needed (42 by the end of the week))
