The following tie-breaker format is utilized for determining the seeding in the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship:

TWO-TEAM TIE
1. Head-to-head competition.
2. Conference record of the tied teams based on winning percentage
versus the highest common opponent and proceeding down to the
lowest common opponent, if necessary, until one team gains an
advantage.
a. All ties are broken in descending order.
b. When arriving at another pair of tied teams, use each team’s record
against the tied teams as a group. When comparing records against a
group of teams, the higher winning percentage will prevail. In case of
tied percentages vs. the team or group of 1.000 or .000, the following
shall apply: 2-0 is better than 1-0; 0-1 is better than 0-2.
3. Coin toss.

THREE-OR-MORE-TEAM TIE
1. Head-to-head competition.
a. Use each team’s record against the tied teams as a group rather than
performance against individual teams. When comparing records against
a group of teams, the higher winning percentage will prevail. In case of
tied percentages vs. the team or group of 1.000 or .000, the following
shall apply: 2-0 is better than 1-0; 0-1 is better than 0-2.
2. If the above results in two teams remaining, the two-team tiebreaker is used.
3. If more than two teams still remain, use the Conference record of the
tied teams based on winning percentage versus the highest common
opponent and proceeding down to the lowest common opponent, if
necessary, until one team gains an advantage.
3. Draw lots.
But thankfully the season doesn't end today! I'd like for La Salle to get another shot at both Charlotte and Xavier. La Salle is the only team to beat both newcomers (VCU and Butler). The separation will begin after the games are completed on 2/21.

I think the Butler/Xavier game was considered non-conference for any considerations. I don' think it counts.

As an X fan, I'd take 3-3 the rest of the way right now. Actually, one more win would exceed all my expectations for this team this year. 20 wins would be an automatic COY for Mack.

That game is considered out of conference and will be treated the same as the Butler/Gonzaga game or the X/Purdue game. They will not look at it at all.

And for the 0-0 better than 0-1 don't worry about it since that situation will never come up at the end of the season

So Dayton, a top 150 team, is a game back from conference tourney qualification? Yikes... the depth of this conference is insane...

They also have Xavier, @ UMASS and @ Charlotte in their next 3 games.. Wow this going to be a very interesting race to watch at the end of the season.. I would hate to the 5th seed having to play a qualification game against them

Forget too 150. Dayton is still 78 on the Pomeroy ratings, based on per possession efficiency. They are also near the bottom in the country on what their record is vs what it should be based on their per possession play (GW is right there with them on that).

That stat epitomizes what I abhor about the advanced stats that are all the rage.

We are going to rank teams based on what a computer says their record "should be" based on a whole bunch of meaninglessness.

The good news is, WE KNOW WHAT THEIR RECORD ACTUALLY IS. I can't stand it when I see TV personalities talking about teams...."Well, they beat GoodTeamX and GoodTeamY, don't really have any bad losses, but their KenPom and BPI numbers expose them as overated..." Good thing big TVs are cheap now, I'm going to throw a beer bottle through mine at least once this March.

I don't think it would be automatic. I think Major taking a team full of freshman and sophs to a 20 win season would be equally impressive.

I grant you that. That would be an achievement. However, if "reestablishing performance following turmoil" has anything to do with it, especially when that involves creating an entirely new starting line-up, then that might be a differentiating factor.

If that Braswell guy is a freshman or soph, I'm glad you guys are leaving. He's given us nightmares way too long.

Jim Crews took over in a slightly tumultous situation as well.

I do wish we could keep him around a few more years. Last night we won at Butler with 5 Freshmen, 3 Sophomores, and 1 Senior (Braswell) getting minutes. I am not sure all of our guys shave yet.

I think there are probably 4 to 5 coaches that could very easily get COY.
