Re: If the season ended today (Updated through games of 3/6)
I don't think we affect UD's worst case.
If GW 6-10 they are 13, if not but Charlotte is 7-9 they are 13, if neither then Only UD & GW 7-9 UD is 13, if UD, UR & GW are 7-9 UD is still 13 Only UD, SBU & GW 7-9 SBU is 13, if UD, UR, SBU & GW 7-9 SBU is still 13 __________________________________________________ _______ Charlotte has no wins against GW, UD, SBU, & UR (but beat XU, BU, UMass & LaSalle?) SBU beat Charlotte and loss to UD, UR & GW (but beat SJU, TU & Umass?) |

Xavier must beat Butler Saturday, and VCU must beat Temple Sunday. If that all plays out, there will be a three-way tie with Butler, Temple and Xavier, and the Musketeers would win with the best record against the others. Saint Louis – Currently the top seed. Can solidify No. 1 seed with a win over La Salle or a loss by VCU. VCU – Currently the No. 2 seed. Can claim No. 1 seed with win over Temple and loss by Saint Louis. A Saint Louis win would give them the No. 2 seed whether they win or lose. A loss by VCU and a La Salle win (over SLU) would create three-way tie, with La Salle getting the No. 1 seed, SLU getting the No. 2 seed and VCU the No. 3 seed. La Salle – Currently the No. 3 seed. Can claim No. 1 seed with win over Saint Louis and VCU loss. Can claim the No. 2 seed with a Saint Louis win and VCU win. (VCU to No. 1 seed, St. Louis to No. 3 seed.) A loss to Saint Louis and wins by Temple and two wins by Butler creates three-way tie. All three split with the other two, so it would go to record against best common opponents. If SLU won the A10, Temple would get the No. 3 seed, La Salle the 4 and Butler the 5. If VCU won the A10, La Salle would be the No. 3 seed, Temple the No. 4 seed and Butler the No. 5 seed. If La Salle loses and is tied with Butler only, La Salle would be the No. 3 seed, Butler the No. 4 seed. If La Salle loses and is tied with Temple only, Temple is the No. 3 seed and La Salle the No. 4 seed. Temple – Currently the No. 4 seed. If Butler wins tonight, would drop to No. 5 seed. Can still claim No. 3 seed (see scenarios with La Salle). Need to beat VCU and have Butler lose to claim at least the No. 4 seed. A VCU win and Butler win would give Butler the No. 4 seed, Temple the No. 5 seed. Butler – Currently the No. 5 seed. If Butler loses to UMass tonight would drop to No. 7 seed, with UMass going to 5 and Xavier holding at 6. Could still get the 4 seed with a win over Xavier, a Temple loss and a UMass loss to Rhode Island. UMass – Currently the No. 6 seed. Even if they win out and tie Temple, they cannot claim the 4 seed. They lose head-to-head with Temple, and in three-way ties with Temple and either Butler or Xavier. |

Re: If the season ended today (Updated through games of 3/6)
SLU can only get the top spot with a win, if they lose they will not be #1, if they lose and vcu wins they are #3, if they lose and vcu loses they are #2 (La Salle gets 1 and VCU 3)

That's what I was thinking. The "best case" was very specific for UMass (and left out being able to get the 5 seed by winning out if Temple wins), so I want to find out if there was a way UMass didn't get the 5 seed if they won out. The only one I'm unsure of is the X/Temple/UMass one. |

Re: If the season ended today (Updated through games of 3/6)
If X, Tem and UMass are tied for a spot they would all be 1-1 against each other. So we go to record against the best team in the conference and work down. We don't know how #1-3 will break down yet, but it doesn't matter. LS lost to all 3 teams, VCU beat all 3 teams, but SLU beat Umass while losing to X and Temple. X and Temple gain the advantage and revert back to H2H where X gets the spot.

Re: If the season ended today (Updated through games of 3/6)
also if 2 teams are tied they are looked at together, they go by record(at least I think they do)

Re: If the season ended today (Updated through games of 3/6)
I believe La Salle has secured a bye in the tourney now, the worst they could do is be in a 3 way tie for 3rd. If that's the case La Salle, Temple and Butler are all 1-1 against each other. SLU would win the league outright and Temple would get 3rd (1-0 against SLU), La Salle would get 4th (0-1 against SLU) and Butler would get 5th (0-2 against SLU)
