Re: Game Thread: Xavier @ Dayton (Saturday 2/16/13)
I wasn't there and I am trying to read down the middle on this as much as possible, but isn't there a line (probably a fine line) between sport taunting and personal attack taunting?
Booing, telling someone they suck etc... comes with the territory in sports IMO. Calling someone a bitch or other more personal and even less tasteful adjectives is really more threatening and angry? That is the kind of stuff that leads to the physical altercation and that is where someone would not feel safe --- right? Am I missing something here? I have played a lot of sports and in a lot of games in my time and have be subjected to a ton of taunting even to the point that some have thrown things on the court when I was shooting foul shots - but once you start going down the path of truely personalizing it, you are crossing a line. I have seen schools turn on former players to the point of calling them traitors, etc... That is all OK stuff - it happened, you are trying to get in their heads maybe... it's all good, but you start calling someone a fag or dirty m-f'er or a bitch etc... you are wrong - peroiod! It does sound like UD officials took care of the problem properly which is great, but to have people here still "defending" that behavior really means you are condoning it as well, and that does not make you any better than those that were disciplined for it..

It's fine to taunt players and coaches, it comes with the territory. But to verbally attack wives? What's next? Kids? It's over the line, rude, and downright hostile and it should never be defended, even from some of these dolt dayton fans who try to justify it.

These dolt Dayton fans would be the first to say what a farce Xavier and the Cintas is if it ever happened down here. But do it up there and it is a rallying cry - look at tman's post. For crying out loud - your going after the wife of a coach and saying it comes with the territory. Give me a break - maybe it is accepted behavior in the dUmp, but nowhere else.

What you need to come to terms is, Mrs mack is coo coo for cocoa puffs.
No matter how may times you say it, we all agree that NO ONE should be called names. But the person who having experienced something like that who reacts like a complete lunatic is what you say, one fry short of a Happy Meal . And now that we know this isn't the first public outburts by her, Mrs Mack's behavior is questionable to say the least. My Grandfather (gman) might have said it best....nutty as a fruitcake... |

Who in the hell do you think gman was referring to when he used the nutty fruitcake reference? My guess is that he was whipsering into the ear of your grandmother and making references to thier doorknob licking grandchild. Last edited by smaills; 02-21-2013 at 01:25 PM. |

Once again, it is you (X fans) that is keeping this alive. The vast majority of the board agreed that it was unacceptable behavior. Stop trying to perpetuate something that isn't true. It happened, its over. No one is using it as a "rallying cry." Listen to yourself.
