Re: VCU vs. Xavier
My point is very simple. VCU has a very tough road stretch, starting with St. Louis. VCU will lose on the road to St. Louis and then will lose to Xavier. There is no way they beat X at home. It will not happen. The Havoc defense is a form of pressure defense. St. Louis will grind them down. VCU will not recover by the time they play Xavier.

Re: VCU vs. Xavier
The last I checked, VCU is getting clobbered by St. Louis. St. Louis is shooting 61% from the field and is beating VCU by 19. The heavy travel schedule and the away games are going to hurt VCU when they play X. Plus X is a better program, with a better coach. VCU will not beat Xavier.

Re: VCU vs. Xavier
IMHO. SLU's victory over VCU offers a blueprint for Xavier. I understand that the best way to prepare for the Havoc defense is to practice with 6 or 7 players on the court playing against our starting 5. Chris Mack is a very good coach, it will be interesting to see how he fares against Shaka Smart.

All credit to SLU as I've said in the game thread. It was a perfect sh*tstorm for both teams. Unfortunately mine was knee deep in it. |

Re: VCU vs. Xavier
Though Xavier played tonight and has to travel back to Cincy, I still think the travel schedule favors Xavier. VCU has 2 tough road games in a row- SLU and X. I can't see how VCU wins this game at Cintas. They seemed to be really tired on Tuesday against SLU. Chris Mack is a great coach, I expect him to outcoach Shaka Smart this Saturday. It should be a great game- welcome to the A-10 VCU.

Re: VCU vs. Xavier
VCU got mauled by SLU, but that doesn't change the fact that they're a good team. Were I Xavier, I would have preferred to see them coming in off a win. They're definitely going to come in to the X game angry. I could see this one going either way. X has been very good at Cintas during their conference slate, and Havoc seems to rely on friendly officiating, which is rare on the road in the A10. Should be a competitive and physical affair.

Re: VCU vs. Xavier
I don't think there is any way VCU wins this game against Xavier. Mack is too good of a coach and the Rams have had and will have a brutal schedule. How often can a team go to the well and use anger to overcome fatigue and the challenges of an A-10 schedule. Guard play in the A-10 is too good. VCU will not be able to waltz in and take over Cintas, like this was the CAA. This is going to be a brutal dogfight.

Re: VCU vs. Xavier
We are going to have to play a lot better to have a shot against VCU.
But it would be nice to be 3 for 3 against Rams this year.

Re: VCU vs. Xavier
X can win if they play the URI/Butler defense. However, that doesn't seem to come around much this yr. and offense still flat most of the time. If it comes down to last second heroics, we lose.
