It doesn't matter how any times I say it--these were morons that acted out and they should have been shown the door. Of course I'm speaking of Tom Archdeacon and Christi Mack. Is it possible that a couple of boneheads said something terribly bad to the coaches wife that warranted their removal from the Arena---yes??? And is it again possible that a poor sports writer without knowing the facts printed a bold headline and story that wasn't true?---are you with me?... And lastly brothers and sisters,,,is it possible that a coaches wife acted in a irrational manner causing a scene that was totally uncalled for?----can you say amen.... If so, what we have are three parties acting in a foolish manner. |

Re: Taunting UD students target XU coach's wife found to be false
I see your side Muskeagle, really do. I am a proponent of the adage that 'the truth lies somewhwere in the middle.'
I wasn't trying to cast blame on her, meant to just suggest that if maybe she'd just approached an usher in a calmer fashion, the situation might not have reached this level. But in circumstances like that, I can understand where she acted the way she did. I just don't like that the actions of a few mean that all fans of UD are painted in that same light by other people on here. It gets old. I don't represent the views of other UD fans on here, I represent my own views. Don't prejudge my opinion based on tman's rants or Muddy's proponency with the stats and links. I am not them. I am a 40 year old Flyer fan who roots for my program and cares deeply about it. i respect fans of all teams on here. There's nothing wrong with good natured jabs, just be strong enough to take it. I mean if you get bent in a faceless forum, how do you get in real life? If you dish, you better be able to take. Plain and simple. Ultimately, I know both schools hold each other in higher regard then the small pocket of cetain fans of each schools do. They serve the same faith, but from different angles. They are similar in size, and share many of the same missions and values. The students of each party and interact with each other. I have plenty of family & friends who went to X and I give them crap just as much as they give me. But at the end of the day, we're still family & friends. That's how I see Dayton and Xavier, rivals yes. Friendly, most of the time.

Re: Taunting UD students target XU coach's wife found to be false
Totally agree, Chris. Most X fans' responses early on in these threads were....UD handled it. Good. Bad that it happened, but we all know there are a few bad eggs on BOTH sides, and good that UD handled it. I and several others said as much. It wasn't until tman put out his misogynistic, hate filled, "chris-mack-is-the-devil-so-his-wife-deserved-it" diatribe that got some of us up in arms. I know he doesn't represent the bulk of Flyer fans and haven't pretended he does. Many UD fans have already pointed out as much and I commend them for doing so.
Most of us can see tman for what he is and I don't think I, or most of the X fans, have been trying to assume he represents all his UD brethren. I said my piece with him on the other thread...but it was only directed at him. I only pointed out to you what seemed a little bit like blaming the victim because I could tell that you were reasonable and were taking a rational approach. As for your latest post....completely agree. |

You're like the warden at Shawshank. It was a true story. They were UD former students. Are you with me?

Re: Taunting UD students target XU coach's wife found to be false
I did not write this.
This from a UD fan concerning Mrs mack and her actions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ First, cursing at anyone is worthy of ejection. No objection to Arena people making that judgment. But, before anyone continues to canonize the former Flyer star (heck of a player!), know that she perpetually draws attention to herself by arguing with officials and is notorious for her entitled and annoying behavior - at X. She is less-than shy - she wears it on her sleeve...no problem. But also, I have been a guest of a longtime X season ticket holder, with seats directly across the aisle from the coaches wives. Know that just last month at Cintas, my friends and I were taunted by her and other wives after cheering for the Flyers (I thought it was hilarious and embarrassing). She also bolted across our section (in front of X fans) to notify security of rascal UD fans who were taking advantage of an unoccupied row of lower level seats (a coach's wife taking it upon herself to handle usher duty???). My buddy tells me this is her MO, with regular histrionics and pouting to go along with cheering (much like a coach on the floor). There are and were plenty of reasons she could/would draw the attention of drunken UD fans. I agree with those who said if she took the high road, it would have diffused after 5 seconds. No other coaches' wives get heckled like that because, coaches wives mostly are polite and do not draw attention. While not pleasant, the taunting was not unprovoked. Her (typical) overreaction exacerbated the story. Horribly vulgar and disrespectful, but induced by her actions and reputation. Annoying all around. Last edited by tman; 02-21-2013 at 05:41 AM. |

They were yelling stuff in regards a female body part that starts with a slang word of P.
She had a right to get mad. Is it worth articles in the DDN? No I dont think so. |

Re: Taunting UD students target XU coach's wife found to be false
Can't we just close this discussion and move on to basketball?
Thanks!

To me that would mean every member would have at least 2 trips to the NCAA Tourney and 5 winning seasons during each 10-year cycle. It would also be great for every program to seriously challenge for a league title (either regular season or Tourney) at least once during that same period of time. |

Nick was trying to do you a favor. UD's reputation takes a lot of hits on this board and they're mostly self-inflicted. Keeping this thread going is simply adding to the tally, especially when you decide to post what probably is a fabricated story. Christie Mack and "other wives" taunted you. Sure, okay. Actually, given that's its you, something probably did happen, but it probably had more to do with you overreacting or being inappropriate in the first place, consistent with how you conduct yourself around here. UD's basketball program is mediocre and its fanbase is not a model for classy behavior. You need to deal with both realities and move on. Last edited by xudash; 02-21-2013 at 08:06 AM. |

Re: Taunting UD students target XU coach's wife found to be false
He missed the reply tho:
" people acting like @ssholes, are @ssholes. Why are you defending that behavior? Calling the wife of the coach of the opposing team a b*tch, in public, is crude and unacceptable. Defending such actions in the cold light of dawn is morally repugnant." |

Re: Taunting UD students target XU coach's wife found to be false
Actually a rational fan on that board wrapped it up very nicely:
UD fans may be some of the most two faced fans on the planet. Want to have this holier than others attitude regarding fan behavior, yet agree with possibly bringing back a player who was removed from campus. Something that would be ridiculed to no end if it occurred at the school down south. What is it? UD holds themselves to a higher standard? Or we don't. I guess it depends what argument someone believes in. If UD wants to have the "elitist" fan attitude and hold themselves to a higher standard, then we do it across the board. Not just to meet the needs of an argument. But I am not going to sit on the sidelines believing that UD is exempt from these types of things happening. UD did what they needed to do and attempted to remove the offenders from the arena. Case closed. I agree. Case closed.
