LaSalle A10 Champs?
Am I correct in this scenario?
Current Standings: 1.St. Louis 12-3 2.VCU 12-3 3.LaSalle 11-4 4.Temple 10-5 These teams all play each other to end the season. If VCU loses to Temple, and St. Louis loses to LaSalle, wouldn't LaSalle win the conference? 1.LaSalle 12-4 (beat VCU and St. Louis) 2.St. Louis12-4 (beat VCU) 3.VCU12-4 4.Temple 11-5 |

Re: LaSalle A10 Champs?
Only if Explorer Steve is making the call - otherwise they still have a little work to do - not much, but definitely some. St Louis losing to X may hurt a little bit, there is nothing like playing a good team that had a chip recently installed on their shoulder....

Re: LaSalle A10 Champs?
If the Exporers had played a few better non con games they would be in better shape. Miami and nova are the only good non cons they own. I think they have to win 2 games in Brooklyn. A win at St Louis could really help too. Steve notwithstanding, I hope the gang from 20th and Olney gets to dance

Re: LaSalle A10 Champs?
I was thinking the same thing.. it would be a shared conference regular season title but they'd earn the #1 seed. Which may or may not be a good thing depending on who's in the 8/9 game on Thursday.

Re: LaSalle A10 Champs?
As Charlotte fans discussed when they were still in the conversation a while back, the bubble this year appears to be very very soft. The extra spots in the tournament, few middle conference teams with at-large chances, and a lot of underachieving top conference teams means it's tough to find teams to include that don't have a lot of warts. I think La Salle is pretty much in at this point, though losing first round of the conference tournament would not help and would put them at the edge. But the question becomes who should get in ahead of them, particularly given their lofty finish in a very tough A10 (which most pundits and bracket guys tend to recognize this year, so hopefully the committee will too).

Re: LaSalle A10 Champs?
La Salle has more true road wins then any of the "bubble" teams. The Explorers also have not lost 2 games in a row all season. I don't trust Palm or Lunardi. I think the Explorers have a good chance on Saturday if they bring the defense they displayed against VCU, Butler and Duquesne. The offense has been on a roll lately and I like the ball movement. Saint Louis is tough at home but hopefully they are a little weary from the Xavier game. That being said, you always want to win the conference tourney so the selection committee has Zero opportunity to decide anything other then your seeding and location.
We are hopeful that Steve Zack is back in time for Brooklyn. The next few days will provide a ton of excitement and may the best team win the regular season title. I think the A10 gets 4 definite teams in the NCAAs, the top 4 finishers. A fifth team could sneak in if they win the tourney. And it is possible that Butler may not make it if they keep losing.

Re: LaSalle A10 Champs?
It's not possible that Butler won't make it. They have too many high quality wins out of conference. The problem for La Salle is if a team outside of the top five in the conference wins it all in Brooklyn, which absolutely can happen. Additionally, we need to hope that most conference tournaments go to teams already in the field or that whoever wins simply bumps the top team in their own league, without adding an extra bid (pulling for Akron, Memphis, etc.). The A10 would get five bids as it stands today, but La Salle needs to do more work to guarantee anything. I know officially this isn't the case, but things like conference affiliation, name recognition, and past success might play a role if it looks like a toss-up between two teams.

Re: LaSalle A10 Champs?
LaSalle is in very good shape right now. UMass is a true bubble team and needs to win tonight.
