For all the fans here that thought things would quiet down here once the UD - XU pissing wars died down, I give you VCU - UR - GMU. Should be interesting.

Edit: And I should add, Welcome GMU. UD and GMU have had some great games recently.

Not only did they not vote against us, their admin lobbied vigorously on our behalf.

That's what happens when you have reasonable adults making decisions instead of fans. Putting us together with GW, VCU and Richmond makes too much sense to not happen.

Completely agree. This made all the sense in the world.

Welcome gmufan, I think you'll find the A-10 is a great league and an upgrade in several respects. The level of play and passion for men's basketball in the A-10 is a notch above what we were used to in our former league.

VCU wanted this last year, but it was not to be. Glad to see it panned out sooner rather than later.

Yes, as the Bud Light Ad says ... Here we go.

As a show of respect, I intend to wait until April to call the GooMoos by their proper name. Oh wait. Damn. I just did.

This was a slam dunk. Of the schools that fit with the A10, George Mason is the best choice by a wide margin.

Welcome, GMU. Now get rid of Hewitt.

anything that raises the blood pressure during basketball season can't be bad.

Welcome my GooMoo brothers

Maybe you can even transfer the Cheesesteak War with Drexel to LaSalle and/or SJU

Welcome GMU, don't follow Hewitt closely but thought he did a fine job at Siena.

How many years are left on the Hewitt deal? He does need to go.

GMU isn't a Butler or a VCU, but there are no more schools of that caliber to add. Who else is left that would be a better addition than the goomoos?

Suffice to say we have a large number of irrationally egotistical fans at VCU.

The vast majority who are against the move are just bitter that we can no longer hold the A-10 move over their heads anymore. It's petty and sad, but many sports fan bases are and VCU is no exception. I've seen shining examples from every school, but when you're doing well like VCU has, it just gets magnified.

I for one, am glad to have another regional public school in the A-10. GW, UR, VCU, and George Mason make for a very nice regional grouping. George Mason has been very respectable in basketball and the move to the A-10 should help them. That's probably what many VCU fans will never admit that they're afraid of. We have a lot of fans that need to get over themselves.

I say bring it on and welcome. If you're scared, get a dog.
Gee, I never thought about doing something like that.

This is good from a GW perspective (local rival, maybe the A-10 will actually get some media attention now).

But it's bad from a basketball perspective. We finally - finally - can see an end to the Dayton-Xavier flame wars that basically ruined this forum, and now, judging by this thread, are about to be subjected to VCU -GMU ripping and trolling each other. Ugh.

Great minds. I hadn't even gotten to your post when I replied.

Damn, that caught on quick!

Personally, I have liked them ever since I sat with the dance team at the Verizon center during the final four run. As a result of that, I have a GMU final four shirt but not a VCU one.

It could be worse. At least, ODU has football to keep that from happening.

Interesting move. Best the league be proactive than reactive. Probably a recognition that the A-10 will lose another team or three - no one is even sure if UMass is long for the league.

Wonder if this means the A-10 views Richmond as a more likely candidate for the NBE instead of Dayton. GMU would be a suitable replacement that gives VCU and GW a nearby rival.

I just can't see the NBE holding at 10. fewer opps to get at-large bids, especially when you have to play 18 conference games and forego two extra chances to schedule noncon wins to buff up the resume.

If the A-10 were to add another school, I would probably favor Siena, especially if it becomes clear the league will lose Dayton and SLU. Best to keep the league in a tighter geographical pattern along the East Coast.
