Duquesne pursued Dambrot after Everhart was fired. He turned them down TWICE! There is no way they should go after any coach who is not enthusiastic about taking the job. PASS!!! Becker, Kelsey, Moton. These guys should be at the top of their list. If they have to go with a veteran coach, I'd rather they hired Mike Rice, baggage and all.

Ultimately, it's probably the future outlook that matters. The entire body of work gives you a decent idea of what to expect in the future, probably with more weight being applied to recent years.

I'd agree with this statement.

Would you have bee enthusiastic about the job at that time? It sounds like Duquesne is operating a lot differently now with the new AD The guy has demonstrated that he can win over a longer period of time than the coaches that you mentioned. I just heard the rumor, but I wouldn't let pride get in the way if I were in Duquesne's shoes.

Re: A-10 Hot Seat Index: The Burnin' Bernies

I have been trying to think of the last coach Duquesne hired who ever got another head coaching gig. It's been the last stop for a lot of guys. I realize they're throwing some money at it now, but it would still be shocking if Dambrot touched that job.

Re: A-10 Hot Seat Index: The Burnin' Bernies

It feels like Duquesne should be going after top-level assistants who have not yet been head coaches, rather than existing head coaches. It's a harder sell for successful head coaches right now, but an up-and-coming type who is anxious for his first head coaching job should jump at the opportunity to rebuild a program with some key pieces in a great city.
