Where will Martelli be on this index if Drexel pulls the upset tonight @ St. Joe's?

I heard about the Barry Hinson rant. Quite good stuff.

From a fan's perspective? 72641. From the administration's? A cool zero.

Figured this one will be useful for preseason banter.

Kellogg is a zero. He could go 4-14 in conference and he wouldn't get fired. He just needs not to do anything supid and embarrassing to the University. And he doesn't seem like the type who would.

Re: A-10 Hot Seat Index: The Burnin' Bernies

I think a lot of guys helped their stock with the record year in the A-10.

To me, Jim Crews is an interesting case. The inheritance is gone, and it's his team now across the board. As much as I don't admit it, he's probably as safe as his predecessor was at this point.

A10 Champs, good recruits for 2014, promising start to 2015 class, website long gone...I would say Martelli has shed at least four of his Bernies if not all of them.

Every coach's seat should be warm.

Can't let them get too comfortable.

Re: A-10 Hot Seat Index: The Burnin' Bernies

I would think most A-10 coaches are pretty safe. I would think the most vulnerable right now is Hewitt but don't know if GMU has the money to buy him out. Most of the rest of the coaches have had some recent success which gives them some protection. The new coaches that have not yet tasted success at their schools are still relatively new so they probably are safe for now.

Re: A-10 Hot Seat Index: The Burnin' Bernies

Always got to keep a coaches seat warm.

Love the situation La Salle in. G seat is warm a little bit after last season mediocre performance. If he continues this mediocrity and it turns out it was a one year wonder that revolved around Galloway he will be gone after a couple years. If he has success next year and receives a bid to the NCAA tournament. It will be the only the second time La Salle accumulated 80 wins or more in the programs history. The last time they did so was when Speedy Morris was the coach from 1987-1992 I believe. Would not be surprised to see him picked up if that does happen.

Either way its a good situation for La Salle in my mind. I think G a decent coach overall but I am kind of ready to move on from the John Giannini era in the next couple of seasons.

Tim Legler name has been thrown around on more than one occasion. He already suggested taking on a coaching role on the east coast in the next couple of year and being a part of Big 5 be a dream.

This is year 4 of a 5-year deal and we have a new AD.

If he sucks again, as expected, Mason won't have any problem coming up with the cash to pay him his final year's salary to go the hell away.

Re: A-10 Hot Seat Index: The Burnin' Bernies

I think Phil gets the fire extinguisher for his as well.

Coaches by and large are pretty safe in this league.

For St. Joe fans: What is the difference between Phil Martelli's situation and that of Jim Crews? We saw the website and all, and Martelli's squad made the NCAA last year and won the A-10. I don't know if Crewsmustgo.com will catch on anytime soon...but it seems their situations are pretty similar.

Re: A-10 Hot Seat Index: The Burnin' Bernies

Crews didn't lose 40+ games in two seasons, recruit embarrassingly subpar players on the team, suck with the good players that did land in his lap, and call out fans who questioned his 'tried and untrue' basketball decisions (having sought vengeance on said fans).
