Regarding FS1 - how many have seen anything on this network since college basketball ended? I am always flipping through ESPN all year long but have seen very little of FS1 in the last few months. It is at the far end of my Comcast channel line-up no where near most of the sports channels and has very little content that I care about. It would seem to me that it would need to attract viewers in large numbers year round to ever be mentioned in the same category of ESPN, the supposed network it aspires to.

I don't really know. No one uses full court pressure in the NBA or anything close to his style. I also don't think the NBA has the same attraction it once used to. If things don't go well for Stevens with the Celtics I would expect him to return to college basketball. The NBA simply isn't the same league it was 10 years ago. Very limited competition across the board.

In my opinion its not that VCU is an elite job if you compare it to UNC, Duke, Syracuse and so on it really depends what your definition of elite program is. However, it is a flagship program and Saint Louis is in its early stages of becoming one.

It's hard to know where Shaka stands after turning down UCLA two years ago. I tend to think he will be a part of the program for years due to where he stands with VCU and with the elite programs I don't know how quickly any of them will be moving on from their current coaches. Crean would be the only one who I think seat is a little warm.

VCU is a very good program. Its well supported and Shaka is recruiting extremely well. VCU provides Shaka almost everything he asks for, and perhaps more than what most NBE and mid-tier BCS could or would. All this being said VCU isn't going to compete for National Championships year in and year out.

Time will tell with Archie. If UD leverages this years tournament over the next few years he'll be in the same situation as Shaka. He still has to do it. Its Bittersweet to be in the position to have a good young coach, because their leaving means the program is successful. Fortunately, the A10 has been able to keep its good young coaches from leaving for half assed BCS programs.

Wonder how the early-season results would affect this.

Most people know what I am thinking.

There were posters here at the end of last season saying Crews was mediocre and SLU would be awful this year. Are you in that camp now? I think we need to see some more.

Re: A-10 Hot Seat Index: The Burnin' Bernies

I've been skeptical of him since Oregon. Losing by 30 to a school from the MVC is alarming.

It's like the "family" idea. We can rip our guy, but we'll defend him when others rip him.

I would have more respect for him if he turned this year over to the freshmen and just admitted "we're not going to win this year".

What about losing to a school from the WCC?

You know damn well that Wichita is not an MVC school much like Gonzaga isn't a WCC school.

Re: A-10 Hot Seat Index: The Burnin' Bernies

I have to say Crews gets a pass for this year. His team is just too young and too inexperienced. If has a bad year next year his seat will heat up.

Speaking of other coaches I am surprised I am even saying this but Mooney, Giannini and Martelli seats have to warming a little bit.

Hewitt and Pecora SHOULD be gone this season. I bet they both are let go by the end of the season.

Mooney wasn't a name I was thinking of, but anything could happen.

Yea, for now.....

but I know you're over the Martelli era as much as I am over the Giannini era.

G was beyond embarrasing yesterday. My feelings from 2010 are starting to return a lot quicker than I would have thought.

He's an average coach and always was. To say he resurrected La Salle would be an understatement. Billy Hahn and Speedy left absolutely nothing.

Phil has brought the Hawks the highest highs and the lowest lows, and much more of one side of that than the other for a while now.

As a Fordham fan, if any coach ever got us to the sweet 16, as all three of your new hot-seat members have, they would have a lifetime contract as far as I am concerned. As for my life, I wouldn't know what to do with the rest of it:-)

Re: A-10 Hot Seat Index: The Burnin' Bernies

The Fordham admin will how if they truly care. They have a decision to make as early as Wednesday night.

I have heard differing stories on how much money his guaranteed due to the extension he never should have gotten. He has 2 years left and the last season he is owed half, but not clear on whether next season is also half or full. Some have said he is only owed half of one season. That is a a huge range, buyout between $350k or $950k. Give or take.
