Just one more thing that pisses me off is the Cincinnati MSA extends north to Montgomery County. This means that all the NBE fucks that cite TV markets are missing the fact that UD Arena sits 10 miles north of the so called Cincinnati TV market. The UC people posting on the board that you linked understand The TV markets.
Good bones is a good way to put it. Here's the thing that I said when Xavier, Temple & Charlotte left:

The A-10 is ALWAYS GOING TO BE FINE. We're always going to be ahead of all the other non-football conferences aside from the Big East. Because the Big East is NEVER inviting St. Joe's, George Washington, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, George Mason, or La Salle. And when you look at what those six have done, and all the other remnants have done; anyone without football would rather be with the A-10 than their current group of conference members.

If the Wright Brothers weren't from Dayton, then back in the day you'd have had the construction of "Cincinnati-Dayton-Middletown Airport," and it would be one market like Dallas-Ft. Worth is.

The expectation is that the MSA will merge within the couple decades (but that's also been the expectation for the last couple decades).

Now, I know what the run-of-the-mill meathead college hoops fan will say: "Durrrrrrr! Talent! Durrrrrrr! TV markets! Durrrrrr! Four-star recruits! Durrrr! If the Atlantic 10 loses Dayton and Saint Louis, it won't be a multi-bid league anymore!" Well, those same types of meatheads have been saying that same shit through our league losing Penn State, Villanova, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Rutgers, Temple, Xavier, Butler, and Virginia Tech. We have a solid, gritty reputation and salt-of-the-earth programs with solid tradition. It is always a challenge, but the conference will survive.

I've said it many times, but I know for a fact that Charleston is on the league's radar as a program with a lot of potential and solid facilities. Nobody out there can replace what Dayton brings us, so looking at potential for growth will be crucial.
Yes and no on the "South vs Midwest" thing. I think the A-10 takes the teams that have been the best at basketball with the infrastructure that fits the A-10 regardless of geography. If it's Northern Iowa, Valpo and Illinois State, so be it.

One thing that worries me is that we've got the WCC, MVC and A-10 from West to East as the "next tier down" in the eyes of many basketball followers. The more we isolate, the more we're viewed as a regional conference playing JV.

I've thought for a while that those three leagues should have become four leagues with a "Best Of" conference forming.
