Not much hockey here in Richmond. I am a Caps fan but that usually turns to sadness.

I will be forever grateful to UMass because of this man. As a kid I can remember reading a biography about Dr. J. I felt like I was reading about a superhero on the basketball court.

I don't know. I always remember the Richmond Renegades (farm team for the Islanders).

They always messed up the CAA tournament 1990-1994. Too much ice under the court...

Your arena is atrocious for hockey. Terrible sight lines

Not sure where you've been sitting but that's quite a bit over the top.

That picture looks like it was taken out of the coach's office window. The sight lines for hockey are very fine.

No, they really aren't. Tsongas, Agganis, Whitemore, Conte, Compton, Gutterson are all much better arenas in conference to see a game. It's humorous how among hockey fans the requirement for it being goods for basketball is ctied as why there are such poor sight lines, while here you blame hockey

He is a Bona grad. He dated a Mickey's wide mouth bottle for about a year.

UML - welcome -that didn't take long...

Welcome to this club....

Muddy Watters - and a few other Dayton fans who live in their mom's basement
Goodtymes
Xavier posters (many - not all)
That Umass/Kansas fan - douche (who's name escapes me now)

I think their first meeting is in about 2 weeks - don't miss it!

I wish the Minutemen would go fully back to their 90s uniforms/logos. That "UMass" script from the Edgar Padilla years was damn classy.

Edit: I only mention this because I was just watching some Lou Roe clips.

I'm honored to join such a prestigious club. I'll stay to the AE forum mostly, for obvious reasons.

I hope I can Skype in for the meeting, Atlanta is kinda out of the A10 footprint

re: 2016-17 UMass Minutemen

Well that first game was interesting.

I am not as optimistic as many of my brothers on the Umass board, but there are some positives and negatives to hash out.

Lewis and Pipkins are a real nice compliment to each other - especially on defense. They are a few steps ahead of the freshmen for sure. Pipkins has some Chaz Williams in him and looks like he will be a/the natural leader of this team.

The freshmen who played looked like ---- well ---- Freshmen. Quick to shoot and definitely need to work on defense, but I did not see anything really bad to speak of individually. They need time and hopefully they will get plenty of it.

Holloway is still huge - if you looked at him and did not know he dropped 50lbs, you would still say he is a big boy for sure. He looked in better condition, but he was clearly playing inferior talent. Hopefully that was him playing to the talent and not a sign of what he will be overall.

I am not a huge Anderson fan, but he was serviceable and if they use him that way, I think he will be a nice stabilizer for them.

I will reserve judgement for now on the offense, but they did not look very organized. Nice one on one stuff occasionally, but too much of it - I was really surprised to see they had 18 assists - it did not look like they even had half of that total to the naked eye. I was not surprised to see 28 turnovers and too many were unforced, it was sloppy in that regard. While it is my hope that this observation will get better, it unfortunately looked a lot like the non-offensive scheme they played all of last year - that worries me - A LOT!

Rebounding was bad - a 40 to 40 total - and we were much bigger than UML, that should never have happened.

3 point shooting was awful as well. IMO it was a combination of poor shot selection and players trying too hard to get those shots off.

I love Baldwin, but he needs time. He fouled out in only 9 minutes of play, but he is aggressive and he has a banger body already - I hope that helps on the boards.

Ole Miss is not the cream of the SEC Crop but they are a couple steps up from UML. I am not expecting a win here, but if they can keep it in single digits for the whole night, they will have probably played better than Friday to do that.
